Best international airport hotels

What are the best international airport hotels, in your experience? I'm thinking landside hotels and 'international airport hotel' I'd define as being in close proximity to the international terminal. 'Best' is up to you, but I'd included price compared to alternatives, amenity, absolute convenience to the terminal and maybe convenient access to transport to the city.

For some of mine, its been a while, so I won't rank them 1-5, but my best 5 would be :

* Holiday Inn, SCL (walk)
* Novotel, AKL (walk)
* Sofitel, T5 LHR (walk or other)
* Grand Hyatt, ICN (shuttle)
* Royal Park landside, T3 HND (walk)

Hon mentions to Altura at ADL and TWA hotel at JFK.

I'm a big fan of the Crowne Plaza at Changi T3. Connected to the terminal, good rooms and great views if you get a runway view room. I've stayed a few times at the Hilton Garden Inn at Heathrow T2 and although the hotel and rooms are pretty ordinary, the bar at the top of the hotel more than makes up for it if you are an avgeek with fantastic views over most of the airfield and both runways. Have happily sat there for hours with a few beers watching the traffic come and go.

I’ve only stayed at 3 but to me Crowne Plaza Changi stands out as a nicer one.

We find the Sofitel a bit sterile. So now our preferred hotel at LHR is the HGI T2/3.
2. Crowne Plaza Changi
3. Crowne Plaza NRT. Always very good to us.
4 Royal Park HND. great choice of food outlets in the terminal.
5 Grand hyatt ICN.

I liked Crowne Plaza Heathrow T4, which is connected by a walkway to the terminal. The hotel is actually split in half and shares with a HI(X?) which is interesting

Have had very positive experiences at Dubai International Hotel, meet and greet service, buggy to hotel, meal/drink included in cost

Grand Hyatt DFW only steps away from Terminal D with huge rooms and outstanding service plus Fairmont YVR which has checkin steps away both for the US and international and again huge rooms….only issue with both properties is the price which has gone up dramatically since Covid

I stayed at the HI end of that place in 2019 & not impressed.

you didn't mention that hotel's [CP Changi] exorbitant prices.

That’s why it didn’t make my list, same with Oryx airside at DOH. Sofitel at T5 LHR can be eye watering, but also can be well priced for the location, which is the only time I stay there.

I’m a fan of the Novotel BKK and have used that a few times. Nice enough hotel with plenty of bars and dining options and a good pool and the rooms are nice enough for a short stay.
We have stayed at the Novotel CDG before and found that to be excellent too. Would definitely stay there again.
Honourable mention to the Atura ADL, certainly not the flashiest but clean and comfortable with great beds and a 1 minute walk from the hotel lobby to the airline check in counters. Have used it several times in the past and would happily stay there again

Would be a 400-500m walk via the undercover walkway. If you have heaps of luggage they have a free 24hr shuttle that runs from Gate 4 at arrivals.
The bonus I’ve found is that you pay for a 24hr period so if you arrive late you don’t have to check out early.
Prices can vary but Red Hot rooms are often under $120

We have used it a few times, even better because of their 24 hour use from checkin. It is walking distance past the trains under cover, but they do a shuttle as well.

There’s a Novotel at Bali’s airport. Very reasonably priced at between $75-120, even for last minute bookings. Great place to go if you get kicked out of your hotel sometime in the afternoon and have a red-eye back to Au.

Nice rooms, quite a nice roof top bar, and a small swimming pool. It’s connected by its own walkway to the departures hall, and you have private security screening. There’s never a wait… straight from room to check-in in 3 minutes.

I’m also in the market for a stop at MUC - how is the Hilton accessed? Runway noise?

while not strictly meeting the criteria for this thread, I have to make a special shout out for the Renaissance Heathrow. The property is about as close as you can get to the runway, and runway view rooms bring you to within about 100 yards of planes taking off and landing. An awesome experience. You can literally see the faces of the pilots, they’re that close.

In case you’re wondering… rooms perfectly soundproofed!
