Re: Best Status Run options after 1 July 2014

How do you get a stopover in HKG post the changes?

Buy class D instead of class I. Brings the cost up to about $1000 AUD. Although even back in the days, class I had a 1500 TWD (55 AUD) surcharge if you wanted to have a stopover, and it's limited to inbound only. Not sure what the costs are for a stopover on the outbound, haven't done that for a long time.

Re: Best Status Run options after 1 July 2014

MH Domestic J still looks good when on special 80SC for $200 odd.

Re: Best Status Run options after 1 July 2014

UL will be joining OW on 1st of May, but I imagine "I" will earn SCs.

I suppose they'll update it in due time.

Destinations under 250 miles have been simplified to 20 SC one-way, however, which basically rules out almost the whole of west Malaysia.

Not LGK which has a few SPG properties ;)

Quite nice properties too. :)

AOR-KUL might also qualify as it's 253 miles by the great circle but QF might fudge the numbers like a few other places.

Re: Best Status Run options after 1 July 2014

Does QFF have a specific zone map for Asia?

No, intra-Asia on partners doesn't have a specific table; it will be covered by the "all others" distance-based table.

Re: Best Status Run options after 1 July 2014

So they shouldn't be able to fudge the figures hopefully.

Well, depends on how close to the zone boundary you are. GCM and Qantas' measurements can vary, which can affect zones.

Re: Best Status Run options after 1 July 2014

Just spent an hour playing around with Matrix and I'm still seeing plenty of $1.XX/SC within USA using the new simplified table. There's a 'triangle' involved...

Re: Best Status Run options after 1 July 2014

We're still a few lobotomies short of (say) the FT Avianca pages, but this hinting business gets old really quickly.

So that makes it either Bermuda, isosceles, scalene, equilateral, acute, obtuse or right...

Or they come back to you later and say "Sorry, I thought a triangle had *four* sides...."

So, assuming that the triangle is scalene, perhaps providing the length of one side and the size of the total area would be useful.

Failing that, the length of two sides is even better.

Better still, maybe just name all 3 cities. :D
