Best seats economy A380?

It looks terrible! (to me...)

So many times these types of seats are considered 'extra leg room', but for persons like me (nearly 6' 3") they are often a terrible choice! Unless the 'extra leg room' is at least the amount of leg room you'd get in a regular seat... but it rarely is!

No recline is the advantage and I'm not disagreeing with that. But these seats can be terrible for really tall people. I'll put up with a recline if there is somewhere to comfortably put my legs!

Considering I could have also comfortably put my feet on the side lockers, I would say there was far more room than a normal seat, and the chance to have a horizontal snooze!
 
3 hours into a long haul flight, and I reckon many Vertically enhanced AFFers would envy that problem!

I actually feel sorrier for my poor partner. About 3 hours in, my feet fall asleep and I start sitting cross-legged. I either keep them up for the entire flight or stick them on top my roller bag under the seat. Another reason why I refuse the exit row or bulkhead seats is cause there are people who need it far more than I do :)
 
i booked a flight over xmas mel>lax and booked a povo seat in row 59 ... thought i'd just log in and look at the seat plan and to my surprise 2x exit seats available in row 48... nice to upgrade but geez, $180 a seat? they dont miss you!

naturally i sucked it up and paid for it lol

edit: actually i just snagged 35E/F giddy up !! :D


Hi, we have 35 d,e,f Sydney to London. Wondering if we should change to 66 a,b,c downstairs?

How was your trip in e and f. Any problem with tripping passengers?
 
I was wondering if people who have travelled in this cabin have noticed how the wall behind seats 33A-B and J-K affects the recline?

33A/B/J/K have full recline like every other seat despite the wall. In fact the FA's either don't seem to notice or they just don't care if you remain reclined during meals and during taxi/take off/landing.

35D can be a trip hazard for people crossing the aircraft to access the lavatory. 35E and 35F are fine though.

the complete opposite, i found that the passengers walked around the back of our seats through the galley to get to the toilets rather than trying to walk between us. there was a guy next to us who was literally 7'1" and someone tried to walk through and he just said "mate, really?" and the guy walked around the back.
 
48C on the reconfigured 388's is OK. The flight was absolutely full. There is a fair bit of noise from the galley, and then when pax started to wake up about 6 hours into the 13 hour flight a few came to the galley fro coffee/tea/chocolate then decided to use the crew jump seats for a few minutes. this lasted for about an hour and then nobody else came to the front.

I wouldn't take 48A, it does have restricted legroom because of the door. (This is not the case for 66A.)

I'm trying 35K this weekend so will report back.
 
How about, say, 34D for those who are too cheap to get an exit row?

For the "exclusivity" of an upper deck seat is the proximity of the lavatories really that "bothersome".

What were your impressions of seats 36J and K? Did people find they were constantly disturbed by people in the galley, and did the wall behind restrict the recline?
 
35K proved to be a decent Y seat. The legroom is excellent with no restrictions at all. A couple of things that people may not like is the lack of a window and no side storage. Storage overall is at a premium and proved problematical for latecomers on both legs I flew.

I would not be so keen to try 35 DEF. The legroom is excellent but throughout the flight pax used the legroom space as a passage to the toilet.

I can't say I noticed much disturbance from the galley so I think 36JK would be half decent seats. I'm not convinced by Seatguru's assessment.

Tony, could you see anything outside the aircraft if you tried to, even through a small hole in the door, or was there literally nothing there?
 
The sis & I are in 35k & J in a week or twos time and would love to know if there's any view outside.......... Hoping we piggyback some PE service in whY? Is this anyones experience ? Or do they dumb it down after they reach row 35....... Obv not expecting the worst but hoping for the best :)
 
Just managed to get myself seat 80A from LHR-DXB and seat 71D from DXB-MEL for next January, so hoping that makes my flight just a bit better. Though it's still economy and I might be a bit jaded with the previous flight over being in 1st class thanks to an AA award redemption. still, the stretch out space should be good... ;)

From memory no real view, as for the service you get standard Y service and the meal came out before PE in the one flight I have taken recently in row 32, which had good views and was quiet despite being at the rear of the plane.

Yep, no real view. There is a small "window" in the door but it is too high to look through when seated. The service is definitely Y standard. Even as a P1 I received nothing over and above standard Y service.

That's good to know; I have 66A booked but was wondering about moving further forward. Though I'm not keen to be near the galley again.
35DEF looks like it would be good if you could prevent people cutting through...

Even the crew used it as a thoroughfare. It is a shame because like you say if you could prevent it they make mighty fine Y seats for long haul.

i missed 66A because of an op up, but had a look when I wandered down the cabin on my second leg and I would definitely agree with serfty that it looks to be about the best Y seat on a 388.
 
Hi all,

I'm flying MEL>LAX return in June, wondering should I try and snag the exit row seats now or roll the dice at the QP desk to get better seats.
I'm PS/QP.

Pity, especially as you have to pay for those seats (or at least I do as an NB)...

I am doing the opposite, going SYD-LAX in 80K then coming home from London in 1st class courtesy of AA award. (obviously there are a few flights in between)

Better to save the best for last!!
