Got to love the reclining debate. I should really stay away from it.
1) I fail to understand what 3-4 inches recline (what is it ~10 degrees?) can do for your comfort on a short flight and if the person in front is not reclined why would you recline? Does leaning back slightly really make a person sleep better?
2) I have trouble getting up out of my seat moreso if the person in front reclines. What do you think I should do to get out of my seat with now even less space to manoeuvre? Slide out of my seat so as not to disturb the recliner in front? Sorry I ain't that stupid.
"Excuse me sir, do you mind if I recline on this 25 minute flight?"
"In fact I do mind!"
"No problem."
Or
"Excuse me sir, do you mind if I recline on this 25 minute flight?"
"No problem, go ahead!"
"Why thank you very much."
Slam the seat back like you don't care about anyone and I will act the same.
And not that it matters much to recliners but I never, ever, recline if seated in bulkhead or exit row. Poor form if you do....
How did I lose you?Sorry, you lost me on that one Johnk.

Correct. I am not an expert but most people I know do not recline on most flights, especially if they have bulkhead or exit row, and even if they wanted to recline would consider the comfort of others behind before their own.You can't possibly know how more or less comfortable someone might be by reclining their seat. All you can know is that you (apparently) get no additional comfort from it.
You are of course assuming that I would fight with someone. Was I born yesterday? If they really wanted to fight then I would let them hit me and they would have to answer to Federal Police on arrival. I would not be afraid to lay charges either.Well, whatever floats your boat I suppose. You are basically waiting to meet someone as aggressive in their view of their own rights as yourself so you can have a bit-o-biffo on the plane. I guarantee you will meet that guy one day, I just hope it becomes an exchange of opinion you are happy with and that he is physically smaller than you.
