Apparently despite SIXT rent a car capturing Velocity details at the time of booking, these don’t get transferred to the rental agreement, you need to show your membership card at time of pickup for point to be paid, so why ask for details at the time of booking?

I've gotten points through the usual online bookings. Though, it seems that they're may be inconsistencies (which I've realised after the fact but not bothered to chase).

Also they did a status match for me and then denied me points because I was on a "corporate" rate.
Why are all the rental car companies hopeless?

I've never had to show my Velocity membership card, however I booked online and this was all at my local SIXT branch who were great when I was renting cars during 2022 while waiting for my new one.

I had the same experience (edit: as) you at their Canberra Airport outlet last year. Suffice to say, I have actively avoided using them since then, especially when via email to inquire about the situation, they told me "you should have supplied your details on pickup" but the agent told me "your details are on the booking" and there is nowhere on the documentation to confirm this (or at least, that is what they told me via email).

Meanwhile, "new" Thrifty (here in WA) very gladly chased up points a few months after the fact - even though the details were supplied and were even written on the rental agreement but never arrived.

I put in a few request for credit got back the same response, so I returned email with the following:

Hi xx_x

My velocity number was in the booking as per Velocity’s requirements, to have it not transfer to the contract would indicate an issue with SIXT and their systems, I will ask Velocity to examine this failure with a request to suspend and remove SIXT from participation in the Velocity scheme .

I did get a very quick response back:

Hi Mark,

Thanks for your email.

We will lodge your claim through our Global Partners team, and they will review your eligibility. If they determine you are eligible, they will forward the request to Velocity.

This process can take up to 2-4 weeks.

My initial refusal email quoted clause 3.6 of their terms and conditions saying membership numbers cannot be added after the booking is made, which was not what I was trying to achieve.

Meanwhile over at Velocity it says“
Already booked a car and missing some Points?

If you booked a car and forgot to provide your Velocity number, simply present it when you collect your rental vehicle from SIXT to earn Points.

Alternatively, if you are missing Velocity Points you can make a claim within 6 months of the eligible transaction. You must have been a Velocity member at the time of activity, however, you can claim missing Points for an activity completed within the 30 days prior to joining Velocity Frequent Flyer.

If it has been more than 30 days since you returned your SIXT vehicle and you are missing eligible Points you can lodge a claim online.

The claim online link just takes you to the SIXT homepage

My most recent hire with SIXT (via Rocket Travel - Virgin) required two months of emails between Rocket Travel and SIXT post completion of the hire to get the points allocated, even though the VFF number in the booking and the VFF card was presented to SIXT when the car was collected.

I rented a car from Sixt a few months ago and entered my Qatar Privilege Club number. Didn't receive any points so emailed them. Crickets.

Have given up but I won't be using them again.

Points posted today for one rental, now to fight the good fight to get the rest, it staggers me that an organisation, in this case owned my motorists for the benefit of motorists, could be so tone deaf to their systems and poor customer service.

Would like to try Thrifty but to get VFF points you have to book through Rocket Travel.
No thanks.

At least within Australia, you can get VFF points via Thrifty directly. Just did a dummy booking and the option is still there to put your VFF number in.
