Big development! Qantas seat selection!

:evil: UPDATE: I can now no longer even select a seat (the button is gone) :evil::evil::evil::evil::evil:

Useless.

Anyone else able to check seating today or is it just my ff that's screwy?

Interesting, I could about an hour ago, but the option/button has now disappeared from all my bookings.

It's disappeared from mine too.

When OLCI opens up, I am going to be interested to see if rows 4 - 9 are completely unavailable like "select seat" was telling me yesterday. As an SG I would normally be allocated a seat in those rows on the domestic routes I usually fly.

Another thing I didn't like about "select seat" was that for a journey with 4 sectors, it wouldn't let me look past the first flight without me actually selecting a seat on it. Yet I didn't want to request a seat in row 10 or further back, because based on past experience there's a fair chance I will have been allocated a seat further forward than what "select seat" was offering me.

All you people who can see seat numbers on domestic flights on checkmytrip - are you all WPs? When I look at checkmytrip it never gives me a seat number for domestic flights, only for international ones.

I'm a lowly PS(QP) and can see seat numbers for domestic flights (although like others have reported the "Select Seats" option has now disappeared).

Button gone here too.

Interestingly selecting seats for my father (SG) and mother (-) yesterday on a MEL-SYD 737-400
was offered row 9 backwards including 11 and 12 (exits)
took row 12 (exit)

Im only a PS-QP but was able to select Row 1 seats for both sectors of CHC>SYD>ADL on Saturday and interestingly, just checked the booking and can no longer see a seat selction on the international booking but can on domestic....:confused:

WP if for (mostly) very frequent flyers. CL is for....well lets face it "brown nosing". !

Have to pull you up on that one - it's a bit harsh and doesnt reflect the value of the majority of CLs to QF. Many may not do the travel, but run businesses who have travel policies, sponsorships, commercial arrangements so QF

I happen to be related to a CL - he gets a letter every year thanking him for his custom - usually with the addition of something like "in our top 100 FFs" or even "top 20 FF's" some years. Suggest that's more than most (with ~5million FFers)!

I'm sure you're quote was meant in part to have a go at those you feel arent worthy of CL (i'm guessing politicians and the like), but many, many CLs earn their CL over and over again in flights and other business for QF.

$0.02 = mine

Firstly thanks to odoherty for pointing this out.
My wife and I are QC and Q Silver. I access a booking SYD-BNE-CNS-SYD made previously to update both our seats on the 27th and was able to request the available seats. I was not able to confirm seats for SYD-BNE for 29th but confirmed the rest and checked on checkmytrip. I could see available seats on SYD-BNE and select but not confirm. Today I have online checked in and taken bulkhead :) that were allocated to us – you platinum’s are obviously not flying so much:lol:. Bulkhead was not an option on seat selector.
The other two flights I was offered seats in section C rear third of the plane. Today I tried to change the allocation for BNE-CNS and selected the available exit row but was not able to confirm, original seat allocation remained. Checkmytrip confirmed.

Like others I can no longer access to select seats and the BNE-CNS seat requests have been deleted, CNS-SYD remains.

Clearly the higher status the better seat group you can access QCL/P = zone 1, QG = zone 2, Q pleb zone wing or what ever is left. No status = good luck
Seat options do not match available seats
You can only select seats with more than 48hrs before flight

Interestingly something has gone wrong and they have removed it but it was not publicised so maybe it’s just a test?

With regards to QF Link, I believe you wont be able to choose a specific seat as they are allocated for weight distribution (due to the smaller nature of the planes).

I'm sure you will actually.... They'll probably just block some seats out as they already do with online check in.

I'll take that. My mental picture was Poluticians and the others that in the GFC have to slum it in QF J/F instead of the private jet they are used to.

I really like the word Polluticians! I know it was just a typo but 'll have to use that.

AA PLT experience

I have just made a booking as AA PLT for the first time under the new system. Of course the usual problem of not being able to add the AA number at booking popped up again. So, as is practice, I go back into the booking after payment and add the AA number. Interestingly this time when I go back to the booking details screen I see that I have already been given a seat selection. Surprisingly this was 29J on an O class fare (red e-deal) on a morning flight between MEL and SYD.
Admittedly rows 27,29, and 31 are poor because of the lack of windows.
For a one hour flight like MEL/SYD MEL/ADL (my most common domestic flights) where one sits matters not too much - sometimes I move towards the back to get the space to spread across spare seats, though ahead of the engines is nice for quietness and buzz saw effects on take-off.

:rolleyes:Interesting; our original seat distribution was split between rows (eg 2 in row 5, 2 in row 6) which I then changed to all of us on the same row.

Just checked "Your Bookings", and seat selection button has gone, but the seat selections are showing.

On the first row greyed out, I reckon we'll find that those seats magically appear during OLCI period:)

Now I know why I wasn't able to choose seats when the option was there a few days ago. I used OLCI to find I have been allocated 23F for tomorrow night's flight. No need to look for better seat now unless I get op-up or the aircraft is substituted. :-|

My luck could be changing....

Maybe when the updated the business rules they dropped out the special bit for you :)

switch (passenger)
{
case 'JOHNK' : allocatedRow += 8 //move JOHNK back 8 rows
}

Does anyone known what happened to the seat Selection button? It was there yesterday when I could actually change my pre-allocated seats to exit rows seats for a SYD-MEL & return trip.

See post #140 for a plausible suggestion ...
