Biggest Travel Regret?

You cheapskate!.. Though what year was that?

2004. Was a poor uni student on my electives then. Remember though this was before I had experienced travelling in J. US$100 upgrade was offered at boarding gate. It's a no brainer, but US$100 was a lot to me then!

My only regret thus far would be only having five weeks in Europe - way too short! I've decided in two or three years I want to be living in the UK, so I have a base for my planned extensive travels! :D

I'm not too concerned with any regrets as I (hopefully) have plenty of years to travel yet! Still disappointed about the Concorde though, but I never really had the means ;)

In 1999 I had a free ticket to the Champions League Final in Barcelona but decided the airfare was too expensive from London. Not an ideal decision for a Man Utd supporter.

My biggest travel regret was waiting too long to fly Mum to Paris to see the Eiffel Tower.

She always wanted to see it and I was always "too busy" working.

By the time I had "made time" it was too late and she passed away a few weeks later.

My brother died suddenly a year later and that's why I decided to sell my business's and retire at the age of 41!

Yeah, my situation would be similar...

I spent many years saying points wanting to give my parents an F RTW ticket as their retirement presents. But it never eventuated... :(

Actually another more recent one is not going to the bossreggie AKL lunch

Going to Mauritius in '07 and not playing golf here Golf de l

All too hard with a 10 month old in tow to get from where we were staying to there and back. Still our resort had two great courses and I won a 2nd prize in a weekly comp with 37 points so I can't complain too much.

Now you've got me thinking of taking my Mum to Europe next year ... She's "only" been to Fiji and Shebangabang.

my biggest regret would be not taking a photo of a particular QLD ministers wife who didn't get the upgrade LAX to ALK/MEL and had munitalP sitting next to Mr Minister for the flight compliments of an opup. Her look was priceless...

You've captured of few of my "travel regrets" here:-

1. Straight from school to work - no "schoolies" back in my day - grunt...
2. Waiting so long to travel to the US thinking that I wouldn't enjoy it
3. Standing beside the USS Midway in San Diego and not going on it - (thanks to robd jnr)

Best non regret:-

Realising now what a privilege it was, (no longer available) that I got my daughters into the coughpit on a United Airlines flight back in 1998 from NZ to Mel.

+1 I'm hoping all my ups and downs of travel are still ahead of me, I guess I can't look back on any missed opportunities yet.

I would have loved to fly on the Concorde, but she was ahead of my time.

Worst regret I can think of so far is landing into Sydney from Zurich at 10am and starting work at midday. So very very tired!

Breaking up with a boyfriend in America (that part I don't regret!) before I got around to doing 'the next trip' over to take on the AA Platinum Challenge...

If it saved a precious day of annual leave then it shouldn't be a regret but a badge of honour.

Amen! I do this every time when I get back from a holiday :D land around 6, go home take a shower and off to work. Usually I crash around 3PM though. A good way to force yourself back into the right rhythm.

Agreed.

I go to work after flying QF12 (LAX-SYD). If I were to go home and sleep it would just screw with my body clock even more, so I try to do a full day in the office and then go home to crash. I then have a good sleep that night and the next day I'm almost back to normal.

My biggest regret so far was cancelling an economy RTW trip when I was 21. I started a new job which flew me in business class, and after that I couldn't bear the thought of doing long haul economy. 7 years on I still haven't done the RTW, but I plan to as my 30th birthday gift to myself (albeit not in Y) :)

Other than that, I don't really have many. The other main regret is flying into cities that I've never been to (home and abroad), spending the entire time in meetings and then leaving without getting a chance to do any sightseeing. Sometimes I manage to tack on some leave to the end of business trips, but other times I simply don't have the time available to do it.
