Birds of a feather

We used to have 3 black coughatoos that used to arrive in September and overnight in the banksia outside our bedroom window. the problem was they awake ~ 0400 and are very loud whilst they enjoy their breakfast.

Send them to our place, we have banksias in the back yard and are early risers.

This lot were surprisingly quiet, both arriving and leaving. Not their usual mode, for sure.

I have had Tawny's nesting outside my kitchen window. One of the Tawnys disappeared and so one was left to sit there day and night. Only one chick hatched. Last year we had 3. One night the parent Tawny didn't come home and the chick sat there all night and all day and most of the next night and then I guessed grew wings and flew. Haven't seen any of them since.
