Oh. Poo. Surely AFF can get to 1,000 posts on this. And that's where it should end. Then we'll know. Otherwise it's just people expressing their particular points of view.
Well, yes. Thats AFF.
Despite vowing off contributing to this "yawn" usual thread, I find myself doing so....
This is so typical of so many threads relating to Qantas. Some members just seem to want to assume or believe the worst.
These threads always have the same 3 phases:
(1) The story "breaks'. No matter the source of this initial info, some leap upon it to try to convince the world of their own sour view on the company.
(2) A period of banter ensues, often revealing the true positions or prejudices involved.
(3) when the real story starts to become clear, there is a massive retreat either done by vanishing or redaction of posts or trying to change the course of the thread.
I agree with anothers postings that Melbournian is an extremely valuable contributor to this forum. But in this thread they expressed some thoughts that I found outrageous. Seriously, that Qantas would bribe pax with points to give false evidence in the "court" of public opinion on this matter??? They don't even give points to valuable customers who have suffered!!
I acknowledge that "we" all make some mistakes, in the heat of the moment.
But what I would respect more is that a recognition be given to the situation where Qantas has stood fast by the staff member involved. That, to me, is very Australian. If this was Qatar or Emirates, not only would it have hardly rated a mention, but I am sure that the staff member, despite no wrongdoings, would have been sacked on the spot to appease the pax. This is the very great difference that an aussie airline lives and breathes. And I like that.
There are very very few airlines that will back honest, hard working staff, in the face of bullying by outrageous DYKWIA types......
Maybe they are producing a upcoming reality show calledIf I were to be cynical I would suggest that the whole thing is a publicity stunt to get publicity the band's tour. But of course I'm not a cynic ....
Exactly what you do.Except that the celeb himself admitted he was wearing noise cancelling headphones and didn't hear the FA.Common decency would suggest you removed them if someone was talking to you.
He’s a hippity/hoppity person, which means that despite a lack of talent he gets paid lots of money & lots of people tell him he is very good. The imbalance between knowing you’re talentless & everyone telling you how great you are must be very ... psychologically unsettling.
Who are *you* to say whether he has talent or not?
Jeez, I thought it was pretty obvious (about the lack of talent) .
I have skim read a lot of this thread but I have to say taking shots at his status/music/talent/credibility/relevance doesn’t really add anything useful to what is out there in the public domain regarding this incident. I’m not African American but if I were then I might well feel that there was a racial element if I was met by Police after an onboard incident with an FA.Ah, the pathetic pile-on mentality again. Pretty sure you don't know the first thing about him or hip-hop, and that your point about his behavior could have been made without criticizing everything else about him as well. But no, it has to be one extreme or the other every single time...
