BNE Airport tour (proposed when COVID allows) interest thread

You're referring to Flyertalk?
Potentially. At this point I've got so much travel and travel related events booked I can't keep all of that separated in my head! 😂

It should also be pointed out that Longreach airport is right beside the Qantas Founders Museum so it should be easy to get to. Another interesting aspect of the flight to Longreach is it's direct instead of nonstop with a stopover at Barcaldine (presumably to pick up pax), so you get two take offs and landings for the price of one! It's also serviced by the best turbo prop money can buy, the Bombardier Dash-8. Perhaps if enough people are booked we'll be up-gauged to a 717! 🤣

You may, but having lived in Brisbane since 1957 aged 10, I have this to offer: sparrows and starlings (who occupied roofs), were rife.
Now there are no sparrows and no starlings. None
There are are no brown-winged kookaburras, sad to say.

QF WP, when you're better, may I suggest that you consider the original Brisbane Airport - now known as Archerfield Airport - as a place to visit? It has history oozing out of every rivet.
You've got me by 10 years. Never been to Archerfield (YABF) but visited a client last month whose workplace (industrial shed), was near the threshold of runway. A great idea for another trip, or in addition to this trip. Hmmm

Well if we want to talk about aviation history in Queensland, I reckon there is no better place to start than the QF Founders Museum at Longreach. Indeed, they've got a number of packages available and I reckon they could probably organize something special for us if we're going as a group.

IIRC, there have been previous trips to LRE organised through AFF, I have been there (but many years ago). That is a topic for another thread (happy to split off for you) into a new thread

I'm curious whether it'd make any sense to combine the two. I mean that way AFFers can really maximize their trip both in seeing the birds at BNE and then capping it off with a founders museum trip. Perhaps that's too much to do in a day, but it would certainly make an excellent weekend excursion in my books. As a Sydneysider, I ain't heading to Longreach unless I'm doing something in BNE. The total travel time having to connect in BNE and everything else just doesn't make it worth it for me.

🤭 I had to take this screenshot of the booking form:

In case you're wondering the country of WA is in the State of Uncertainty. I forget how their post code works though as it has been sometime since I applied for a WA travel visa (do they still accept Aussie passports?!)! 😂

I’ve just seen this thread and I’m definitely interested if there is a space. We’ve also been hit pretty hard with Covid despite our jabs.

Interested in the tour of BNE as well. Was in Longreach in Aug and did the VIP tour of the museum, our guide Tom turned out to be an old family friend of my wife's.

Still interested in BNE tour. Was in Longreach last year and did the premier tour of museum and aircraft.

I was diagnosed with acute COVID and only yesterday (2.5 weeks after testing +ive) lost some of the worst of the symptoms (aches/pains and lethagy). Still testing positive (day before yeterday had a PCR), so staying at home working on my laptop - will look at heading back to work of Monday if I get a -IVE PCR. Bloody hard when I can't see clients and am more efficient when at work.

I'll start to think about the logistics for this Do.

I hope you get well soon. I still have a hacking cough, horrid headaches & fatigue. Sleeping during the day. Graham bounced back faster than me. We’re both had our Boosters.

Tested positive on Australia Day.
