Eight of us are STILL sitting in the Hilton Bar.
We will leave eventually! (Maybe)

Ha-ha........ bossreggie was happy to provide free drinks for all!! We all should have met at the Hilton..... We may NEVER have left the bar!!

Thanks all for a good night, I still have a sea of new names / faces to get to grips with. Did you end up eating both steaks Storyteller?

No she didn't but we did work out who the other one belonged to.
Simon had to get a refund :!:

Thanks for your generosity. It's a shame I had to drive home and could not indulge to help you teach the batman how to pour a double Laphroaig!

Now, the question remains about your need to be in Sydney this morning and your lunch appointment in Auckland. Did you make both commitments? And did they enough coffee on the plane to overcome last night's festivities?

As it was such a good night a few extras have decided to make the trip to Melbourne. See a few of you in Melbourne.

Yes, I got the reaction at home that I thought I would...and it wasn't salutory or a positive response .

Have you spoken to the wife about Friday night yet LW?

TG

Many thanks for the generosity that bossreggie showed those of us at the Hilton Lobby Bar and Exec Lounge. Great to hear that you got a Suite and the letter of apology from GM. Seems that for two of you last nights accom was less than a happy affair.

I'm sorry I missed this, I was roped into going to the cricket. I'll try and make one someday.

Greg.

Finished up a leisurely breakfast in the dining room around 11:30 .

Great spot for watching other guests walk by - spotted Anato1 then later on dfcatch sat with me a while.

Simo, sorry about your steak & veg, & chips with dipping sauce ( don' worry though, they didn't go to waste). I told the waitress it was close, but didn't look like my order of steak, chips & salad, plus wedges with sour cream & chilli sauce. Priceless when she looked at the veg & declared "that's salad", in her heavy accent. She did ask up the table, plus went back to the kitchen and brought me back the same plate plus bowl of salad. Later when my meal came out, I indicated that THAT looked like mine, as I was chewing, so she just plonked it down. She had a lot of style.

I also offered my meal to BossReggie at the bar. I think his double laphroaic appealed more.

Yeah. A real charmer. Loved the whole 'i have tickets on myself' attitude too. Oh well, she will go far in hospitality.

What about the barman who didn't want us to use our own coke for my scotch!!

I had to remind him who the boss/reggie was!!

That's the problem with "customer service" in Australia, if that happened in the US, flash a $20 tip in front of them and they'd be out the door running down the street to get you the coke themselves.

Actually, I don't blame him. Fancy ruining a good Laphroaig with coke!

Trying to convey my prefernece to the bar tender at NRT JAL FLounge the other week was interesting. Just 2 cubes of ice and water on the side. They had the 18yo Laphroaig and I was not going to allow him to damage the goods with any impurities . By the 4th or 5th visit to the bar he finally seemed to get the picture.
