Boeing is now reporting that the 777X is now delayed until 2026. Disappointing, but not unexpected.

Boeing is circling the drain, only a matter of time until government bailout.

2026 is optimistic i think. The whole program is back in limbo with the engine problems isn't it?
Getting that fixed and then certified whilst dealing with the max problems, I'd be surprised if they can get it certified in 2026

And Australian Aviation is reporting that Boeing is going to reduce their workforce by 10%. That is a huge reduction and indicates significant issues they are trying to address.

How much of that cut is going to be from civilian aircraft manufacturing though? There's a lot more to Boeing than the aircraft we fly on.

I'll bet this is just the normal bully boy industrial relations. Basically sign here, or you're fired.

Apparently it's across the board. At the moment they are facing unprecedented strike action from one of their unions - I wouldn't be surprised if this layoffs announcement was strategically announced to coincide with that.

Oh well, another delay. Not surprising with Boeing's recent track record. I'm sure Qantas is thrilled.
Does QF have anything much in the way of orders with Boeing?

I don’t see how firing 10% of their workers sets them up to succeed post strikes. Unless they’re planning on delivering 10% less than their current rate. Of course, I can’t see NASA wanting any more Starliners, and I’ll bet the USAF wishes they’d gone with A330 tankers.
