I read the first post and was wondering if I had a different card - not the "Platinum 1" but assume it's the same.

No offer of course. I've actually been using mine for the past few months so maybe it's just to encourage non-users

Yep it's the same card, the "1" (formatted with superscript in the email) is referring to #1 in the T&C's. I've had high activity on mine since November last year so I assume it's been sent out at random.

Foreign currency transactions don't count. Makes things a bit more difficult if you're overseas during the promo!

I'm not sure how to read that line. As I would think it reads is
Fees and charges for Foreign Currencies
As in buying foreign currency.

Offer here, no recent use.
Likely targeting those cards sat in drawers.

I do use my card pretty regularly and I got the offer.

There must be a general "why did I miss out?" whinge line for us who miss out on Amex and BP offers surely??

I never get offers!!. What am I doing wrong?

Probably using the card!

We've got a few of the VFF Amex and (un)fortunately we use them a couple of times a month each.

I suspect the people who are getting the offers may have VERY rapidly spent the qualifying amount for the 110,000 points and then put the card away or perhaps only use it very rarely.

FTR - no emails have come to us (just the online "Your payment has been received."

Not the case. My card barely sees more than one or two transactions a month.

I'm not sure that's the case, I've been averaging 7k points monthly from that card, with my highest month being last month where I earnt 11k points. My gf has the same card and has not been using it anywhere near as often, and has not received the offer.

I like the way you combine Health Insurance and Fast Food, makes sense to me. :D Note to self: alter Bupa direct debit to Amex

Remember that many amex cards pay 0.5/$ on insurances. Obviously not a problem with a bank issued card.

I thought it might just be a cheap offer to get people to keep those cards open a couple of months if a rash of people had been closingthe m, but good tos ee the bonus points appear pretty quick...

I hadn't used mine in a while and got the offer, a efw chocolate bars fromt he shop could do it...

Hadn't closed it yet as haven't taken my free trip yet...

Has anyone who hasn't received the offer via email made five purchases, and had the bonus apply anyway?

I haven't received an offer, either.

.

1/ This offer has only just come out
2/ T&C that I posted above states that the 3000 points will not post for upto 8-10weeks (So unless they are posted early no one may know till after the promo closes).

However having said that it is only 5 transactions to qualify so there is little to be lost by doing the 5 transactions anyway.

Some people have already received their bonus...

Thats a good point. Maybe I'll just go make 5 cheap transactions on the card anyway and hope the points come through. Even though I haven't received the email.
