I have a couple of questions regarding the 4 complimentary upgrades for Platinum members.

I notice on my account that I have 2 remaining with an expiry date of 7th October. I assumed as long as I maintain platinum they will rollover to the following year. Can anyone confirm whether or not this is the case?

I wasn't planning on flying VA before my review date as I've already maintained platinum. I assume I can use the upgrades for flights after my review date as long as the upgrade is confirmed before my review date?

You lose them unless you use them. You can book future flights with them though.

21.2 of Velocity terms and conditions outlines the use quite clearly.
If you don't use them by the expiry date they are gone forever.
However you don't have to fly before the expiry date of the upgrades.

For example, my remaining credits were due to expire end of Sept 2013 and I just used them for flights in March 2014.

yep - you will get 4 more after Oct 7th, but any of the current ones unused would 'expire'.

I'd love to be able to use them on longhaul International routes - say 2 for a one class upgrade.:idea:

I remember choosing using points over these comp upgrades late last year as VA were having a 50% off points for upgrades promotion. Shame as I would still have the points and I wouldn't have to worry about losing the comp upgrades.

I have the distinct feeling that others have posted that they have been successful in doing that. Worth a try I guess!

Mrs D-H tried very hard to use hers for me... rang three different times to speak to different people, tried the "it's a surprise for him" etc etc but to no avail.

Frustrating... but dems de rules it seems. Having said that, there is anecdotal evidence of people having success, so as usual, YMMV.
