No, not a "glitch" per se. That's the published rate as per their award chart for any route between Japan and "Oceania"

No. Australia is in the 'Australia and New Zealand' zone. Oceania includes Guam, Fiji, Tonga etc etc.

Ticketing is instant (well... like within a few minutes. You'll get a message that the ticket is 'processing', but it's usually there very quickly)

In every respect but two. UA has better availability, wider choice of routing, more carriers, better customer service, cheaper change and cancellation rates. But LM can win with cheaper mileage requirements on some routes, and cheaper miles to purchase.

But you would have needed the points before purchase anyway in order to get the free stopover (HKG-BKK flight) as a round-trip.

No I didn't need them. I had 100k from the bonus but I want to book 105k worth of flights.
My next booking is in J for 25k but I not sure on the date yet.

Either way, happy with this promo and the United website. Easier than LM

Have you tried changing online without confirming? Mine was coming up with change fee only but not sure if I was checking pre or post devaluation.

odd... the link and bonus was working four hours ago, but now defaults to the standard buy miles page with no bonus. Only 7pm in USA, did it have a 6pm end time?

I have been waiting for 2 more J redemption seats to turn up so that I can bring my wife and my son(who is cuurently booked on Y) to J class. Once the seats become available, I shall look to request a change.

As a result, I rang UA office before their enhancement date last month and asked the same question that you asked. I was told that if the change does not involve a change of the booking reference number, then I only have to pay the change fee but not the additional points required under the new scheme. But if the change causes a change of booking reference number, then I shall need to pay both the change fee and the additional miles.

Then I asked what would cause a change of booking reference number, and the lady from UA seems unsure, and asked what scenario am I talking about. I said it would involve a change of booking class on the same flight, or change of dates for the same flights, but will not involve change of origin/destination. I was told that in this case it should not lead to a change of the booking reference number with my mentioned scenario. Obviously I can't be 100% sure the lady was right(as she didn't sound like she was sure and that she may not have experience with the change) and the braintrust of people of this forum should correct me if I am wrong.

Update: I couldn't find availability for the date I want and I had to cancel the flight. So still not sure if you have to pay the new rate.
