Bonza Airline Discussion

Yep - not a lot of frequency to start with - a lot of 2 or 3 flights per week which is fine for leisure and visiting family and freinds, thats obviously the market they are pitched at so good luck to them. Not going to be very useful for business travel

They've made it clear they are not after business travellers, so that's fine.

I still don't get why they haven't looked at Tasmania at all, thats a great opportunity, I can see why they may not want to go head-to-head with flights from Tasmania to MEL and SYD but other options might have been worth a look, even just a summer schedule, and similarly a winter schedule with more CNS and DRW might have made sense? OOL is also another curious omission, I assume its only because the market for OOL is already so competitive that Bonza just didn't want to be there?

I would have thought NTL-HBA might be successful.

Everyone I speak to about domestic travel here is wanting WA to open up as a heap are regulars to BME. I wonder if at peak times there is demand for a direct ADL-BME?

They mentioned earlier on they were looking at shorter flights within the 2-3hr time range. DRW is probably to far to fit into the business model (likewise ADL-BME), but who knows as they adapt. The longest route, MEL-MKY is 1186 miles. If you draw a radius of 1200 miles around DRW, that really only covers TSV and CNS (and CNS-DRW already has JQ).

I also assume (with some conspicuous absences such as BNE, OOL and SYD) that they are only putting on routes to airports who play ball with them. MEL has always been quite aggressive in chasing market share with the presence of AVV keeping them in check.

This is probably the largest announcement in the history of Sunshine Coast Airport - but I think calling it the biggest in Australia's aviation history is a bit of a stretch. 😝

*** Allstralia excludes WA (goes without saying these days!), TAS, NT, SA sorry 🤣

Like I said, would colleauges (on here) be happy if they opened a purely Aust based call centre?
With knowledgeable staff, and bearable wait times, or no wait times.

Of course!

They could literally just run an ad campaign at this point saying "Bonza - we'll answer the phone" and they would take some market share from Qantas. 😂

Bonza - Here for Call-stralia

I wouldn't be surprised if the Sunshine Coast airport are giving them $0 landing/pax fees.

Do what many are doing now, in that call centres are now people working at home. JetBlue do this, it’s entire call centre is people working at home, a supervisor is always available on a live zoom chat on the side.

Considering the call centre would probably only be a few or Joel that model should work. Or just base them at the HQ in MCY.

And every Bonza CSO will be given the name for all contact as Bazza/Shazza with a numeric code, easier to remember you just to Bazza 615/Shazza212 than a (I was just speaking with a CSO named Sharon at Bonza...) eh?
Yes, yes, presuppositions are not ideal.
Edit: looks like they are bypassing the main Kingsford Smith SYD airport, and only flying into and out of the smaller NSW towns.
Saves money, (I ***presuppose***).
