Bonza Airline Discussion

Thanks for that, I obviously wasted my time doing Computer Science. I should have asked those here all my questions about electronic devices. All I came for to ask why Bonza does not have a web presence, but I see I was wasting my time, sorry. Bye.

There’s quite a few members on here who are also experts in the field. It’s best to argue with facts and generally not required to cite your own training, and certainly not using the fact you have training (and assume others don’t) to shut down debate.

Some apps simply won't function if you do not allow their permission requests.

Your statement is true.

I think a bit of common sense is needed though. Let's say the Bonza app wants permission to access your call logs and bluetooth but won't function without it. Is this an airline you really want to be flying with even if you could book via the web if that's the info the want?

Has anyone actually bothered to check what permissions are requested? Fly Bonza – Apps on Google Play for Android.

For iOS it’s very tame

"You do realise they'll harvest the same personal data by booking via a website? ;)"
(sorry don't know how the Quote thing works yet)

That's not the point, an app. can be written to harvest anything on your mobile, that's why I have none installed on my mobile

I do admire his enthusiasm. Sounds like they will wait until they get all 27 routes up before making any calls on chopping and changing.

I reckon this model will have more success trans con, as mentioned, fares are the highest they have ever been, a Perth base would be good.

There are some really strange route timings,
CFS-MCY at 7:25pm on a Sunday, $29 maybe get on the plane as the only passenger.

They should have concentrated on one or 2 areas not try and go everywhere, eventually the planes will go to Flair with the line they are needed there but because Australia is such a flop.

Also twice a week isn’t going to cut it, might be ok for grand parents seeing friends or family but for everyone else drive or take another airline.

So plane spotters suggests they have 4 aircraft right now, with a further 4 on order and 2 not taken up.

Looking at the 4 aircraft:
UJT last operated a week ago with a ROK-MCY on 17/03
UIK last operated over 3 days ago with a AVV to MCY on 23/03
UKH last operated over 4 days ago with a PQQ to MCY on 21/03 (although this had a 8903 flight number suggesting not a scheduled flight)
Finally UJK is en route operating a MCY to PPP return

I'm not expert but having 4 aircraft, 3 of which haven't flown for at least 72 hours isn't good for business. Aircraft need to be in the skies to make money and basically over the weekend they've only used a single aircraft.

From tomorrow the Sunshine Coast base has 2 aircraft in operation each day, and the 3rd was always earmarked as an operational spare.

The 4th aircraft is added this coming Thursday when the Melbourne base starts operation, but that is another slow and phased start. Initially, only MEL-MCY operates and Rockhampton & Toowoomba are added mid-April. The bulk of the Melbourne routes don’t start until May.

Not accepting Amex? 📢Meeep! Flying The killer plane (though somehow people forget easily…)?📢 Meep! Not allowing you to book unless you download a shoddy app?📢 Meep!

Three strikes and you’re out. I give them another half year to a year max. Sad that some people fall for such nonsense.

They all start out this way. I remember JQ didn't have assigned seating, literally board and sit where you like.

I think they'll do just fine, but they'll morph into a traditional LCC pretty quickly.

Will be interesting to see how the point to point routes (non-MEL or non-MCY routes) will do in 6 months time, and whether the p2p routes will either stick around in a years time or whether they'll send the aircraft back to MEL/MCY to do another rotation elsewhere.

They’re trying some rather innovative things which could either disrupt the current “regular” way of doing things or won’t work. It will make an interesting case study as most other airlines haven’t even bothered to try some of these things.

FWIW I wouldn’t be surprised to see some back-of-the-clock MCY-PER and/or AVV-PER flying coming soon.

I think app only bookings will be the first to go

I imagine that was only an initial data-capture burst anyway, now they have email addresses and locations of pax around the country who are interested in flying Bonza, which will help shape their network (and ability to spam).

There's no technical or financial reason to run app only - most apps like these are just a website in a an app wrapper anyway.

MCY-ROK looks full this arvo, TSV-MCY is sold out.

MCY-CNS-MCY looks like a winner. I reckon that should be daily.

CNS-MKY isn’t. TSV-ROK another dead duck.

As expected MEL-MCY should do well. AVV is also a winner it seems, possibly a missed JQ opportunity over the years.

Well- Jetstar started Ruth some nice Airbus planes rather than with a dud Boeing that should never fly again and will kill people again sooner or later, it’s just a matter of time.

And it had the financial backing of a powerful national airline behind it. I think that’s very different from that airline with what must be one of the stupidest names in airline history.

We will see. My guess, again, is that they’re gone in a year max.

Jetstar started with the ex-Impulse Boeing 717s in its first few years of operation whilst waiting for the factory fresh A320s to be delivered.

The 717s were subsequently transferred to NJS (then at the time a subsidiary of Cobham) when there was enough A320s at JQ.
