Couldn't find a Book the Cook thread, so starting a new one.

Any recommendations for an upcoming flight of the attached selections?

I do recall reading on The Million that from his extensive experience, Singapore does Western meals better than Asian meals. Having said that, I've had Asian meals on the airline several times and they were all delicious.

My advice: don't overthink things. Everyone has different tastes. Go with something you think you'd like.

I had the lobster thermidor on a recent sq228 flight a few weeks ago and it tasted nice. I chose this based on online recommendations. I had laksa on the way back to AUS and also tasted nice. But each to their own.

Surprised to see they changed menu to Seafood thermidor - not lobster anymore?

This review is great of the book the cook. Both the choice of “book the cook” and also the decision to order from the menu onboard. Written by a nutritionist/dietitian;

I usually go the rendang and never disappointed. Love my Asian curries

Flying SYD-SIN SQ222 A380 in Premium Economy where it's a much smaller selection for Book the Cook

Butter Chicken and Jalfrezi Vegetables
Butter chicken served with pilaf rice and curry vegetables.

Dim Sum with Fried Rice
Steamed pork dumpling, shrimp dumpling and fried rice served with chilli sauce.

Seafood Thermidor Saffron Rice
Seafood thermidor served with roasted trussed tomatoes and saffron rice.

Szechuan Beef with Vegetables
Szechuan spicy beef served with steamed rice, stir fried carrot and cabbage.

And the proposed menu

Red Beef Curry with Pineapple Fried Rice and Asian Greens

Roasted Chicken Breast with Creamy Potato Mash
Grilled broccolini and tomato and olive sauce

Interestingly the onboard menu for J class is also available and zero overlap.

Braised Lamb Neck with Pickled Carrot and Korean Chilli Oil
coughin roasted carrots and puffed quinoa

Beef Rendang
Braised spiced beef with curry vegetables and coconut rice

Braised Barramundi in Garlic Chilli Sauce
With seasonal vegetables and fried noodles

Coq Au Vin
Chicken cooked in red wine sauce with mashed potatoes, green beans and mushrooms.

Nor with the Y class menu

Wok-fried Sliced Chicken in Oriental Black Peppercorn Sauce
With vegetables and steamed rice

Beef Stroganoff with Buttered Vegetables and Mashed Potatoes

Palak Paneer, Vegetable Sambar and Fragrant Basmati Rice

Don’t tell QF.

Noting that I suspect SQ use a similar kitchen these days to QF it is interesting.. it's well known QF serves almost identical base meals across multiple classes. Seemingly SQ does not.

To be honest more often was the 38 Book the Cook choices ex-SIN.. why can't QF do similar ex-SYD and MEL
