Booked under V class yesterday

I followed Kevrosmiths advice in post #21, worked perfectly although if the price had gone up I imagine I'd be pretty peeved.

To confirm:

- Customers holding ticketed bookings in V or L class purchased prior to the 18 February 2015 with a departure date for on or after 18 February 2015, will receive an adjustment of Qantas Points and Status Credits up to the Flexible Economy level

- Points will track and appear on the Members Frequent Flyer statement at the new reduced levels, with a post flight adjustment of Qantas Points and/or Status Credits approx. 3-5 days later (wording on account/statement will appear as: ADJUSTED EARN-BOOKING MADE BEFORE 18FEB15)

- A credit back of upgrade points will occur where higher level points are redeemed for L & V bookings ticketed prior to 18 February 2015. The upgrade credit back will occur regardless of whether the upgrade request was made pre or post 18 February 2015

- Lounge Staff are able to ensure the correct points are charged for an upgrade for customers who have existing Domestic bookings in V or L class prior to 18th February 2015 and wish to obtain a Domestic On Departure Upgrade

As always, our friendly Frequent Flyer team are available on 131131 or email [email protected] should you have any questions or concerns.

Hope this helps to clarify.

What are customers supposed to do if they have enough points for the correct upgrade, but not twice as many as needed for the incorrect cost the system wants to charge? I hope that call centre staff can also process the upgrade for the correct points, without trying to charge a fee.

Contact Centres don't charge a service fee to process or register for a Classic Upgrade Reward. :)

One more question/situation, if I may ask, Red Roo:

Double or 50% Bonus Status Credits offers... will they correctly apply/be automatically updated for V and L class fares for flights booked prior 18 Feb for travel on or after 18 Feb?

Keep in mind, you may not want to use this approach if you have bookings that are eligible for prior Double or 50% Bonus Status Credits offers... the change in ticketing date may make them ineligible.

i can confirm that:

a) i did an on departure upgrade yesterday and the girl knew about the problem in the qantas lounge immediately with pre 18th bookings and did a workaround to only take 10,000 points , not the 20,000 the system wanted to take.

b) for my sydney to melbourne flight on the 19th that i was credited with only discount economy earn - the system has added automatically extra points and SC today to reflect my flexible booking pre 18th (as redroo said above)

The upgrade points table now appears to be updated correctly to reflect 10,000 points for disc Y to J upgrade.

You're welcome QF :)

Good to hear ... I was a little annoyed when my points credited yesterday on a V class booking at discount economy rate, and then even more annoyed when I noticed my PER-MEL upgrade request was showing as 20k points instead of 10k. I'll still keep an eye on my account and make sure those credits come through! Probably would have been easier to to a bulk change of all the V & L class bookings to M class at midnight on the 18th though, that would have avoided all these complaints ... and would make it easier for people who do need to change flights in future to have that booking class.

My credits for flights to add the missing SCs and Points have all been done between 2-3 days after. However I have not received a credit back yet for an upgrade deduction from 5 days ago that was taken at the higher rate, so keeping an eye on that one.

I just tried to upgrade a pre 18 Feb booked Flexi K fare at BNE Business Lounge and the desk staff there knew nothing about this. Wanted to charge 15,000 points (instead of 7500) and said that I could call up when the overcharge appeared on my account and then get a credit.

K was Flexi Saver and is now Flex... so there shouldn't be any change for that fare class. The change only really affected L and V.

You are right, my mistake - the fare was V, not K.

If you have any remaining V fare bookings, my previous suggestion for automatically overcoming these challenges post 18-Feb is to go and "change" your existing booking, and as long as there are (M) fares at your existing price point, you can re-select the same flight and it will ticket as M fare. This means you'll automatically earn the correct pts/SCs, and also means upgrades are processed the first time at the correct point level.
