That is terrible, I am sorry that your kindness has been treated this way

Welcome back bossreggie!!
I knew that you were harassed by some AFF members but didn't know the why, how and whats.
Now thatyou have stated them, it is indeed shocking to know that some members have shame our community.
Treading carefully as suggested!!

Terrible tale.

After I "aquired" my bounty in the "Everyday" promo I was hounded a bit by one person on Flyertalk that believed my bounty should be shared with him, and who turned nasty when I refused his offers to sell my points to him at bargain basement prices.

There's always one in every crowd eh! So........ can I? ;)

(Yes, I know they're all pretty much accounted for now )

I have discovered my love for a few restaurants in AKL so most Sundays I head across the Tasman for lunch.
Nice idea. I'm going to give it a go soon I think.

Does the short length of the visit attract the attention of immigration?

Good grief, that sounds like a terrible amount of effort to be forced to go to simply because a few mal-adjusted idiots couldn't behave. I'm sorry you experienced that and got burned from it. I would hope that the vast majority of us would not be anything like that. I dearly hope they did not endanger your CL status!

Having said that, all of your generousity was simply a bonus; the real gift is your presence in this community. I know we don't know each other, but like many others I've read your posts and your shoes in this community are large indeed. So despite what's now ruined by some bad apples, let's all be thankful that the main gift you bring to this place - your participation - is still here for the rest of us to appreciate.

Welcome back!

bossreggie - thank you for sharing your experience with us.

It's such a shame that some people would act in such an inappropriate way instead of being grateful in accepting your generosity.

Unfortunately - such low-lifes do exist, but I am glad to hear that they do not exist around here anymore.

In any event - welcome back, and I'm sure we all look forward to your continued contributions :)

bossreggie,
thanks for giving us the background story and so disappointed that someone would abuse your generosity in that manner,

that said, great to have you back

There's some seriously messed up people in this world. Sorry to hear about your experiences :(

Bossreggie, I was sad to see you go (however very understanding when you told us of your plight) and it has been great to keep in contact through FB.

I was thrilled to get your SMS the other day and to now read this thread. It goes to show the high esteem in which you are held by a lot of members here (from the number of messages).

Look forward to catching up with you and +1 in either MEL or BNE one day!

Yay! You're back. :)
I've been using your lovely chocolate suggestion on most flights this year. For our trip to Europe, I made Little Miss present the FAs with the chocolates - she should know the pleasure of giving as well as receiving. Our J BNE-SIN FA remembered us, and was an FA on the upper deck of the 747 we had SIN-BNE 4 weeks later. Between the chocolate and the charms of Little Miss, we were able to visit the flight deck after arrival into BNE, which is pretty exciting these days, even if it's not in-flight like when I was her age.

I used this on my flights (3 of 4) to and from Moscow recently as well, all booked in Y. Discount Y. All FAs were very grateful, and one of the younger ones had her first experience of a gift from a passenger. I should have told them the chocs were from Bossreggie as well. Not that you'd be in Y on a CX flight. ;)

bossreggie,

Thanks for explaining what happened, and knowing what happened, I now understand why you felt the need to leave.

It is always sad when someone abuses your generosity, and there seems no reason for them to have done what they did.

But, it is good to see you back, adding your own perspective to things.

Haha. Ok then.
Slight OT - what do you all tell your Mrs/Mr when you're up to these shenanigans?

My wife has taken to describing my trips with AFF as "he's off with the fly-boys again". I tried pointing out that some of them were girls, but that didn't seem to help matters :o

Geeze bossreggie. I guess some people just have no idea. I can't believe people are so rude - and then the rest of it.

I'm sorry you had to endure that.

Hehe. I think I'm little embarassed by my love of airline status and free flights in premium classes. Even the seat selection games we play at T-80 etc. Most people just rock up and get over it. Hehe.

You got off lightly then - the terms used by my wife and brother/parents is less than salutory :o

Although the members that my wife has met she quite likes (with one exception).

Actually, doing a trip with bossreggie would be good :D

Finally caught up with that awful story, hopefully there aren't too many people who behave like that.
I've only met a few AFF'ers recently but they have all been friendly and courteous.
I haven't guested anyone into Lounges yet although I do post some flights when able.
Your experience makes me a little wary but I will cautiously do so if circumstances permit and I feel safe.
Glad you've decided to return :)

I try to not tell SWMBO, which is hard when I need financial approval, as she then bags me about going to see men I met on the internet.
