BPay attract reward points for Citibank CC ?

I would like to bring this topic again, is there anyone still getting points from Bpay? I asked Citi staff this morning, and it seems they totally misundertood Bpay, and keep saying Bpay is not part of purchase, therefore no points will be accrued.

this really falls under the category "please don't be bring this to their attention"
If you have the card make some Bpays and see what happens. I fail to see what involving the overseas call centre (who likely have never heard of Bpay...I think it is just an Australian thing) will achieve other than highlighting something that possibly does not need highlighting*. You are aware that company reps cruise these boards? Has anyone wondered why there isn't much open discussion of Bpay here?

*yes, I DO know I did just that

BPay is no different than any other purchase and attracts points under the CitiRewards program.
Only exception I am aware of is if the BPay biller does not accept credit cards for BPay, Citi often let you do it as a cash advance (and warn you of this during the transaction). Under this circumstance instead of points, you get interest and charges!!!!!

With Citibank, I now adopt a low-risk posture i.e. only use for standard retail transactions.

They are well documented to apply their own T & C anytime they feel like doing it which could be ..... anytime.

Monthly points transfer now for me.

Do not even bother with BPay - see above.

Why take risks with an unreliable provider?

Most will accept CC on their sites or by phone anyway.

To me (as far as CCs go), BPay is no longer here.

Method 1: There is a Bpay web site. Find it. Search for the payee. Read what it says

Method 2: work through the payment process and see how you go. Hint: don't always believe what the form says. (Edit done here to remove brackets)

But I'll go back to what I've said in PMs. Please read ALL of AFF and you'll find out a lot of this stuff for yourself PLUS a whole lot more that you'll benefit from

i thought that bpay only takes funds from a savings account and not a creidt card, is this correct?

I thought postbillpay is for credit cards?

Has anyone earned points by making QSuper Voluntary contributions with the citi Signature card?

I called QSuper and they seemed to think it was OK to bpay via credit card. However the bpay website doesn't have credit card listed as an accept method against QSUPER.

Thanks

If the BPay works from your Citi credit card then you will get the points, unless if during the transaction it specifically says it will be treated as a cash advance.

So the banks that award pointsfor BPAY transactions (provided the biller accepts BPAY payments from CC) are:

1. Citibank
2. NAB
3. ANZ
4. Macquarie

Any others?

In most cases where there is no BPay option, you could go directly to their websites to use your CC (Telstra from memory).

Then, watch out for possible CC surcharge - even for non-AMEX cards

To saving surcharge for Telstra, prefer paying bills using Paypal (having any CC attached to it) may be. I have been using this from past year without any surcharges!

If you have a 13 digit Telstra account number you can now set up a credit card to pay by direct debit with no fees. Amex and diners included.
