Was I? That's good. I had a great time and must particularly thank markis10 for sharing each of his courses with me when I kept having food envy :)

Great to catch up with everyone and I can add one more person to my "AFFers I have met" list

Great night, thanks to Mark for organising.

I am soooo tired this morning, getting too old for this 4 hours of sleep lark!

I can only speak for myself when I say the food looked prettier than I did . Special thanks to those that made the long trip to be there, next year I get in early and book a Saturday night.

No table photo, yet there were ones of entrees, mains and desserts??

Poor form :(

I have a few photos on the camera, light wasn't so good without using the flash.

Here is a photo when we first arrived.

Thanks for the hospitality! Time seemed to fly by...

According to P3 of today's Courier Mail, Bretts Wharf has been given a new lease of life after the city council delayed the Kingsford Smith Drive upgrade until at least 2015.

Look forward to the 2nd annual ...

As posted by your man on the ground yesterday ;)

And if all goes well then perhaps another Christmas party at the same location next year!
We are very pleased to advise that Brisbane City Council have confirmed that Bretts Wharf is able to remain open at least until January 2015. We had thought we were going to have to close due to land resumption, however this is no longer the case.

Hi all

The pineapple verdict: Excellent night, excellent company, excellent food:cool:. Many, many thanks to Markis10 for organising.

Mrs Pineapple is particularly grateful to Taezar for the intro to @SpencerHowson. I was particularly impressed with the frequency with which Straitman gets job offers. I am not at all sorry about the absence of duck from the menu. Our only regret was turning up the hill for our return to Motel Fleapit, while everyone else wandered in the direction of the CityCat.

Being new to such ventures I hadn't realised photos were obligatory, so didn't take any:oops:. Obviously necessary to reassure others that we're not a bunch of culinary bots. Te best I can do is a pic of our motel room, for a tripadvisor review which I may or may not get around to. This is an executive room, it has no broken windows at all :)

Cheers skip

Where is the obligatory photograph of AFF'ers?

I'm not sure there is one :!:

Ahhh Mr Wilson, not quite.... :)

Here's a photo of the table before we all started. Nice touch with the candles, although it was still a fully lit room anyway.

A great combination for bread: dukkah (the VA), olive oil and balsamic (the QF) and soft butter (the common, well, except for the soft part).

The entree of calamari 'twice'. There's calamari long tubes lightly battered and fried, as well as squid tubes which are stuffed with what I presume was seaweed. There was also an odd fried baby octopus there, I think.

markis10 and Lawlass employed the sharing technique, allowing them to each sample two dishes apiece.

The lamb main. The lamb was cooked nicely - just right, perhaps a bit rare for some. The sebago gnocchi wasn't much to write home about at all. It would've been nice with a bit more sauce and puree, as it made a nice complement to the lamb as an accompaniment rather than a mere accent. The broccoli was just...well, broccoli.

Wonderful pannacotta of coconut and kaffir lime. The shaved sweetened pineapple was a nice touch.

LW, you're probably wondering: "anat0l I didn't get interested in your post to see more food posts!" I agree... so....

I call this photo, "Concentration"

This photo was not intended to go live, but given that Mal and Lawlass bothered to give props to the camera, it would be wrong to not include it. :)

The AFF contingent after dinner.

So there you have it!

Thanks once again to markis10 for organising the night. Thanks also to Brett's Wharf Restaurant.

Look forward to seeing you if you can come next year! Of course, you may be hoarding brownie points again so you can go to the first test (again).... ;)
