I regret to inform all that due to qantas continually re-delaying my flight (after draining glass of red to prepare to leave QP, forcing me to refill), it is extremely likely that I will arrive at this event significantly inebriated. I apologies in advance for any offense caused. Unless thewinchester is coming - any offense caused to him is totally intended.

Come on...this is AFF:!: Of course apology accepted in advance. :) Can't do much about thewinchester thing, though...

Look forward to seeing you again in good spirits ;) (no pun intended, though I still think wine is a better option :)).

I'll be arriving around 1915h-ish via CityCat. So convenient that there is a ferry terminal at UQ.

I'll see what Straitman wants to do - but I think Citycat looks like a great idea.....

As long as we don't get stuck on Sh..tycat instead ;)

Works for me if I ever get there!
Finally on a flight in SYD and about to depart for BNE.
JQ excelled in stuffing up this morning and I missed my first connection!

The Citycat is not a bad option after the dinner as well, last services:

9.43 10.08 10.33 10.58 11.23 11.48

I'm planning to be on that citycat. However there are several services around that time so may not be on the exact same one.

That particular one departs riverside ferry terminal near eagle st at 6.44p. There's also another at 6.39 and 6.58.

I'm probably aiming riverside 6:44.

Citycat looks like the best way to get there, thanks to Markis10 for the link.

I will probably catch the ferry from Bulimba Ferry Terminal, Oxford St, Bulimba at 6:56 which gets to Bretts Wharf at 7:02pm.
(this one starts at UQ at 5.57pm)

Looking forward to catching up with everyone tonight.

I have also broken the only pair of shoes I brought with me for the next 3 days. So at least part of my wobbly walk will be attributable to that. Please reserve judgment

Well it's Queensland Smart Casual for the dress code, right?

I should have organised complimentary transfers from the Citycat terminal to the restaurant:

I will try to find an emergency shoe repair place if I ever make it to bne. I have no idea how I'm getting from airport to hotel (diamanté) to dinner

Nice hotel, but small rooms.

If you airtrain it from airport to central there is a shoe repair place there. Prob closes by 5.30 though. Diamante is about a 5 min walk away.

I live about 100m from the Diamant so I will make sure you get home.
#helpful

I also haven't decided how I am getting there yet train and bus, bike and citycat, bus and bus? Will just have to play by ear. Don't eat all the duck before I get there... oh wait... nevermind.

Do they have wheelchair access??

Just thinking ahead for Lawlass ;)

All ferries are wheelchair accessible, but I'm not sure they'll accept a shopping trolley :p

The CityCat departing Riverside ferry stop (not to be confused with the smaller Eagle Street Pier) at 6.45pm will be the one I am on, so looks like we might just bump into each other (depending on how the ferries arrive closely to each other). It is scheduled to depart UQ at 6.09pm and arrives at Brett's Wharf at 7.14pm. Hope to see you on board.

For those without go cards, you can buy tickets inside the vessel. Adult single paper tickets for Riverside to Brett's Wharf costs $4.60 one-way (no return paper tickets available). Try to have some change on you - the operators are notoriously grumpy if a bunch of people hand over $20 notes fresh from the ATM.

Don't know if anyone is passing through to pick you up. There are no train stations near Brett's Wharf, which reduces down to:

Taxi
Pro: easiest option
Con: handily the most expensive option

Bus (no. 300 from Adelaide/Wharf Streets)
Pro: quickest public transport option
Con: most difficult option for an out-of-towner; Adelaide St stop is ~500m from the Diamant (Adelaide & Wharf Sts)

Ferry
Pro: easiest public transport option, Bretts Wharf very near the ferry stop
Con: need to get to North Quay or Riverside ferry stop, which is quite far from the Diamant. To be there "on time", must get to Riverside by 6.45pm.

As for the shoe...what's wrong? If it's a broken heel platform, could you just rip off the heel of the other shoe and make yourself a new pair of flats? ;) (saw this from a Mentos ad once... :p :D)

The is a train station at the top of racecourse road, which is 1km from the restaurant which is at the bottom of racecourse road.
