Woah!

What's with the hotel rates?

  • Hilton from $330 A/P, $375 Best av. or 120,000 HHonors points
  • Holiday Inn from $246 A/P, $290 Best Av. or 25,000 PC points (phew).
  • Ibis (!!!) from $220

At least the F1 at the airport is "only" $99 ...

Pretty normal for BNE, we don't believe in new inventory, at $150 worth of points the HI is not bad. Quest Ascot is well within walking distance and $148 for a studio.

Menu 1 option b gets my vote (I don't eat seafood and a $80 alternate drop where I might end up with a seafood dish doesn't excite me much)

Of course then we have to have a poll to select the 3 choices for each course :)

I second that, definitely Menu 1, option B for me.

Count MsPG and myself as interested and looking at our schedule and the menu. Yummy!

While I love seafood, 1B does look like the best fit between what I like and what'll likely appeal to other tastes - so I'll add a +1 to that.

(but I'm not really fussed - just would prefer something that's not alternating - I get enough of that at conferences! :))

+ 1 from over here

As I said to Markis10 yesterday, I like the idea of the choice vs drop.

I can hardly split between some of the menu options (I can see the split between entree platters vs. entree individual plates, but some of the others are more difficult - I'm guessing the choices of mains differ from menu to menu and thus the price (as reflected by the "average" of the quality of the mains on offer)).

My tendency is to go for a "choice of 3" option instead of alternate drop. Alternate drop is boring and has more potential to annoy, especially in this case when the "choice of 3" options cost a trivial amount more.

Do not forget we will need to accommodate those with special dietary needs (another plug for "choice of 3"). As of what I can tell, we have at least one vegetarian (vegetarian or vegan?); I'm sure there are people here with allergies of sorts.

Off-Topic Light Side Aside: Can you imagine if Y meals were alternate drop?

From my brief look, the mains were the one constant across the menus, with the entrees and desserts coming in various combinations.

(FWIW I have never been a fan of alternate drop, and I imagine triple drop to be even worse!)

We will need to cap the numbers at 25 if we give the drop a miss which is my preference, and Menu 1 is also my preference as well. If anyone has special issues re dietary please let me know by PM and we will accommodate you, previously at Bretts I have had no issue with 2-4 meals off menu for this reason so to speak, so no one should feel left out.
