Brisbane AFF Xmas Dinner - Private dining @ Bretts Wharf, Wednesday 30th November

We will need to cap the numbers at 25 if we give the drop a miss which is my preference, and Menu 1 is also my preference as well. If anyone has special issues re dietary please let me know by PM and we will accommodate you, previously at Bretts I have had no issue with 2-4 meals off menu for this reason so to speak, so no one should feel left out.

It'd be interesting if we get to 25 really... (though considering we had 40 at AFF 4 - though not as big - plus we need to account for SOs)

Worse comes to worse, is it possible to have two bookings? Mind you, let's keep things simple - the more-than-one-booking option should be reserved as "in emergency, break glass" situation.

If we break 25 then the River room is an option, no views as such and would be alternate drop, otherwise we can always book a table in the main area and do the social butterfly thing!

I've done the maths and while that's all ok - it's simply too difficult time-wise for me to attend.

So enjoy ...

(One realises it's time to step back and take stock when finding themselves seriously considering staying at an F1 in an endeavour to ensure some level of sleep ).

As long as its not alternate drop then I'm definitely in.

I'm Gluten Free Vegetarian, but I can usually find something to eat.

Well I've finished up in PNG and relocated to outer SE Qld. Question: Is attendance permissible if you've been really slack about posting lately and never ever been to a drinks night??

In your case, Absolutely Permissible!

Particularly to verify that you do, in fact, wear a WP luggage tag off your right ear-lobe. :p

Any AFF event has it's mix of people who are asking themselves why I did not do this earlier, suffice to say online personas tend to be different to in person ones ;). It's an open invitation to all to share the good things in life.

Don't tell me you are letting the standards slip? I thought one must wear a WP luggage tag in each ear for your first AFF function in person? :p

+1 to that, I wish I had came to one earlier, they are great fun and people generally are even more interesting in person. (Or maybe it's just the open bar?)

Yep, we're much more belligerent in real life

I thought it would be OK :)

Mrs pineapple, however, won't supply a leave pass, she wants to come too, possibly as my personal behaviour moderator.

So put me down as yes +1 :)

BTW I regret to advise that the in-ear luggage tag is a SG one, and there's only one of them.:(
Worn because when poorly behaved at airports I am consigned as Mrs Pineapple's luggage.

I have now set up a ticketing site so that interested diners may register and prepay for the dinner, tickets are limited to 25, and have been costed in at $85 on the basis that we will do Menu 1, no alternate drop and have included sides.

https://register.eventarc.com/event/view/5474/tickets/aff-christmas-private-dinner

Payment is via credit card, no surcharge and Amex is accepted! As we are constrained on numbers and there will be a few +1's attending, I would recommend early purchase, refunds can be done at any time!

At this stage it will be a cash bar, a beverage package is available:

Wine:
houghton quills pinot noir chardonnay sparkling
houghton quills classic dry white
houghton quills classic dry red
Beer:
james boags premium light
hahn super dry
xx_x gold draught
Non alcoholic:
mineral water, soft drink , orange juice

$38 for four hours - not sure if this worth it!

In my opinion I think it will be best left as a cash bar. At $38 per head you would need to drink an inebriating amount of alcohol (especially from the list depicted) to make it worth it. From a previous history of AFF meets I don't think we will get that far (certainly in the past, people have shared multiple bottles of good wine, but I don't think that would ever average to one bottle per head).

As a consequence, however, I guess we should all be a little bit prepared, if possible, to proffer some small notes so that the open till process will be as painless as possible.

Thanks for getting this ball rolling markis10
