British Airways or Cathay Pacific business class (using points)?

I am using points to fly Singapore to London, classic flight reward. Both British Airways and Cathay are available (Cathay flight slightly longer but I don't really care). My questions is: which is considered to be the better business class please?
I realise this may have been discussed previously but have tried to search subject to no avail.

Good question, the soft product for BA is great but the hard product for CX is better.

Im leaning towarda CX but i haven't flown BA for 2 years now and I heard they've made some further improvements.

As per some other threads it seems CX is cutting some services and posters have already mentioned that some flights have been cancelled so it might be something to consider

Not LHR (yet) and there may be a greater chance of an op up on the LHR flights if seats are taken up by those who have been rebooked from the cancelled services?

BA 777 (Sing - Lon direct)
CX A330 & CX 777 (Connecting in HKG)
CX A330 & BA A380 (Connecting in HKG)

BA is likely to be higher in fees.

And from SIN CX716 is actually likely to be an A350.We have flown BKK-SIN on CX 5 times in the last 18 months and 4 times an A350.It arrives into SIN at 1620 and goes on to HKG so I am presuming the 1800 departure.Their A350 in J is excellent.
The BA 777 SIN-LHR is the continuation of the flight from SYD and even late next year likely to be the old J seats which I hate.It is BA16
Their is a second BA flight from SIN-LHR.BA 12 which is an A380.Reports are it is better than the old 777.

I haven't experienced the new BA J seats, but if its the old ones, I would 100% choose CX over BA.

There are pros and cons to each.

CX probably has the better seat/bed in terms of length. But BA's seats are very comfortable indeed. And if you are travelling with a companion the two middle seats on BA will give you your own mini suite, of sorts.

Choosing seats... BA charges for advance seat selection, even in business class, unless you have status.

Food - BA probably wins with their new service. CX wins on speed of meal service (important if you want to get some sleep).

IFE - probably a CX win. Lounges - CX (although you can swap between the CX and BA lounges if both are available anyway).

Amenity kit - probably CX.

Bedding - BA.

If I had to choose I'd be happy with either airline, but make sure you choose your seat(s) wisely on BA. Cost may be the determining factor. If BA's fuel surcharges are high, nothing to lose going CX (and the make a mean negroni )

CX every day. They are super good!! I only use BA for short hops in EU and then only if no other decent option like AF

Found BA soft product very good even on Euro Business. CX ok but not the warmth

CX for sure. The BA 777 seats in J are hopeless unless they have been updated. Too narrow and lack of storage just 2 issues. You also have to pay to select your seats on BA (not cheap) unless you wait until the last 24 hours which is something that really annoys me.
I've flown both in J and CX wins out for me.

BA Business Class seats on my flights have had me having to clamber over a complete stranger whenever I needed to get to bathroom. Seat also narrow with no storage (777). Vastly superior seat with CX, more comfort and privacy.

CX food also better. Can;t think of one reason to recommend BA. I wouldn't fly them again unless the alternatives were even worse.

PS Oh, and CX lounges are vastly superior to BA.

The BA seat is super comfortable though... well padded and soft. You *do* need to choose seats carefully - rear-facing bulkheads for example are private, whether for singles or couples, and no one to climb over.

Mmmm ... but there aren't many of them! Otherwise the choice is between having to climb over some unfortunate soul, or to yourself be one of those uncomfortable souls being kicked and climbed over!

I'd willingly pay more points to go CX rather than BA. To my mind it beggars belief that an alleged top tier airline would expect passengers in J to climb over each other to get to the bathroom on long haul flights.

Like QF on its A380 ?
