Hi, I’m looking to book a business class flight from Tokyo to Sydney, the flight has a stop at Singapore from Tokyo which is flown by Japan Airlines and from Singapore to Sydney from Qantas. My question is, if I book that flight from the qantas website, are both Qantas and Japan airlines business class? Or is it only Qantas?

Unless there is an explicit note that says a certain leg will be in a class different to Business, all legs are in Business. Example shown below ; Although the booking is a Premium Economy, some legs in the trip will be in Economy.

Also, welcome to AFF :)

Does the cross under standard seats and points upgrade not mean its not business class for those specific airlines?

I tried to search this flight - however, the results I get are the QF4018 departing 1050, not the 1130 you got. I guess it might be something to do with the dates. I'm searching for Thu Mar 16 2023. What dates are you looking for?

In any case, the screenshot you provided - doesn't show if there is any economy or premium economy seats. Looks like this is an all business seat booking. However, I can't say for sure. Dates you are looking for would help.

Thank you!

The cross means for the japan airlines operated flight you won’t necessarily have standard seat selection available as you might on qantas. On JAL certain seats are restricted for top tiers, but differently to the way qantas does it,

It also means you can’t use your qantas points to upgrade on JAL.

There’s nothing to indicate this is not business class… the screenshot is a points as full payment option. This is not an award seat, but a revenue seat converted to points. They’ve valued that seat at around $14000 one way for the cheapest option. A classic award would be about 95000 points.

No. It means that that particular thing - requesting points upgrade, selecting seat on JAL is not available for that fare class or selection. Tick means its included.

EDIT: M_T beat me to it.
