Business class happy hour [expired August 2012]

QUite funny, Im looking at booking another one now, Take the wife to MEL for lunch 1/4 way to reqaul platinum LOL. Flexi is $299 and J is $200 each way

MEL-CNS booked as separate MEL-SYD-CNS is $400, 100 SCs each way.

Same price as flexi.

As great as these sales are, and I haven't missed it this time, $200 for business class seats doesn't look good for Virgin!

They are clearly not selling seats, while they will fill up some empty seats on these flights, I am not sure the offering is enough to get people to say "Heck that was so good I'll spend $500-$1000 and fly business next time"

Oh well $200 for MEL-BNE is a bargain!

1. Buy a Business Class sale ticket for less than economy;
2. The airline provides a fantastic level of service/product;
3. You're enticed to consider booking with them for future flights (even if you're only considering economy class);
4. Win?

Could they be thinking about things at such a simple level? What is clear is that they don't have the business patronage that Qantas does. So if they use these sale fares as a loss leader or (dare I say it) break even, then I don't see this issue?

Do sale fares have to apply only to economy class?

Just booked J class SYD-CNS-SYD for $400 (+$9). Pretty good IMHO.

Will be drinking the bar dry of Bolly (or perhaps pinot noir).

Just booked J class BNE/ADL/BNE for $400 (+$9). Many thanks to Travel Guru for interrupting my pizza eating to alert me to this deal. Being the nice guy I am, IainF was then my first SMS. Think he may have picked something up as well.

I have just booked MEL-BNE-MEL in J. This will be my first Virgin flight since 2006 - yikes! :shock:
Oh well, I had to see how the other half lived sometime.

Changes are allowed, but you have to pay the difference in fares.

The website slowed to a crawl (so missed out on one of my returns) so now I am stuck in BNE for one of the weekends without a flight home...

Hope they do the sale again !!

The website going slow must mean lots of people looking/booking

Very Happy booked ADL-BNE (Via Mel) BNE-ADL all in one day at the end of Nov with two minutes of the sale to go! With six hours to have beers in the lounge in Brissy which should hopefully be the new J lounge!

Well i used it to change the the times and dates of the Happy Hour J fares i hastily booked during the last J sale. Came in quite handy!

I saw the sale early and have no need for any more flights but I was wondering the same thing. Business class cabins are empty so they are trying to entice people in booking business class. Unfortunately though there is a huge difference between $200 and $600 and the seat in row 3 costs $79.

I hope all these sales are doing some good.

I have merged threads as this is the second sale, worth subscribing to this thread for notifications if further sales come up like they have today.

Thanks markis10, I've subscribed as I've missed out on both sales so far! Problem is, happy hour starts when I'm at work and there is NO chance of sitting on the internet spending time researching and booking flights in my job, we're flat out from start to finish - and by the time I get home (which is about an hour's drive), it's around 4pm here in Perth so the sale's finished . Roll on daylight savings in the Eastern States, I might at least get a chance to have a quick look during my (late) lunch break!

I had such a crazy busy day but somehow managed walk by my desk and see the sale on and got a MEL-BNE-MEL J. Thinking of using for a SC run and going for DJ Gold. Will have to do the sum's and work out if I have pooling right and SQ accrual right as well.
