I'm not terribly bothered, as I wasn't affected, just nitpicking really.

But as has been pointed out by a few, mainly Ansett, some lounges do need things fixing, little problems that could have been fixed, and seemingly weren't. Whatever the reason for the closure was, why things that needed to be fixed weren't, is a good question, seeing as they would have been able to. :p

So, no-one seems to have seen much sign of maintenance over that period, and some can do without the J lounge anyway. LOL.

When does the QP close for maintenance by the way?

In all fairness after 2 visits yesterday to Sydney J lounge it seems that they have repainted, replaced the carpet and polished some floor tiles oh and installed some new mirrors. In addition to that they seem to have repalced a significant number of seats. They have done nothhing to rejuvenate the bathrooms and showers, which do need work.

I am glad to hear that. I am not averse to them temporarily closing the lounges provided the closures are for the reasons explained rather than just some ruse to trim costs.

No need, just hose it out!

After this occured in January I wrote to QF Customer Care as I was booked on two return domestic J-class flights during the affected time, as I was disappointed the lounges would be closed and it wasn't very well advertised (except for those informed on forums such as this). Fortunately, I got an email back saying that they would let me access the Dom J Lounge 4 times in lieu of not being able to access them over Xmas-New Year. It wasn't a major issue by no means as I already had QP access, but I am very happy with this response! Thanks Qantas!
