Buying Qantas tickets online from Bangkok

Just called the BKK office and they advised me to call the office in AU. Called the AU team and it took the consultant about 20 mins to come back to me advising he had cancelled my ASA booking and I had to make a new classic award booking...

that's a good thing though isn't it? Weren't you saying in post #76 above that there had been a major schedule change and you wanted to change... or did I misread that? : )

I did cancel that previous one but now they cancelled the one I needed :D

that's a bad thing then! : (

Ok, the story evolves. After QF AU cancelled my booking I made a new one and called the office in Bangkok again. They simply asked when I will be in Bangkok next and as it is next month they just said to drop in then and get the ticket issued. They promised me that it won't be cancelled in 2 days... I'll keep an eye on the booking anyways :D

It is actually a YASA. And the QF SYD contact centre said that only classic awards can be booked from BKK... Didn't make much sense to me.

I have just checked the price of booking a fare from Bangkok and the price is actually reasonable. I wonder why QANTAS wants to charge Australians more.

Total Price

Total Price= ฿31635.00* (THB) 1 adult x 31635.00 =฿31635.00

= $1320.02* (AUD) 1 adult x 1320.02 =$1320.02

31000 THB is approx $960 AUD.

ozmille, I did a similar thing recently and found it was too difficult to book ex-BKK because of the CC issues.

Instead I booked the JASA to Singapore and back (which had J/F availability too while BKK did not), then a separate CX flight to BKK out of SIN.

This also meant an a380 flight and a few extra SC.

I am actually on my way to USM that trip and had already booked in a YASA over there as the start date of the trip was fixed but the return not. I obviously had no idea of the trouble I was getting myself in by wanting to secure the outbound leg. Longwinded way of getting to my point :) I am also looking for the flights BKK USM and when booking on Australian websites it is a lot mor then on Thai websites. But again I am afraid about the cc issue. I might buy those tickets when I am in BKK next month. Must be some economic protectionism by charging foreigners more for the tickets.

just book through a local website such as bangkok airways or nok air (they have a plane/bus/ferry combo to Koh Sam). The Nok air combo takes abut 5 hours though (but can be had for about $100 including Nok Air Plus cabin).

No problems using foreign credit cards through BKK Airways or Nok Air and everything went without a hitch. Got asked for cc verification at the Nok Air checkin counter.

Without going too much OT as someone that has travelled to USM with Bangkok Air, Nok Air (see profile pic) and Air Asia: please pay the extra $$$ and just fly direct with Bangkok Air! It's just not worth the hassle and time of saving a few $$$ - trust me!

Also, try to book the A319 flights and avoid the ATR70's with Bangkok Air...those little prop planes are old and tiny and get blown around like a paper aeroplane over the gulf

It will be Bangkok air as we are going to join my parents on those flights who are coming from Europe and are a bitnolder and not up for a long or bumpy trip to the hotel. I will tell my parents to tell their TA to book on A319 and then match the flights.
