BYO in the QP, what next ?

This is the norm for US doemstic travel..

Whilst I haven't seen it first hand, it is of no surprise. When "service in Y" = "sit down, shut up and don't ask for ANYTHING!" I suppose you really do need to be self sufficient.

A few years ago, a 5 hour flight, and all I got (after paying a very pricey sum) was a cookie. That pretty much summed up flying in the US for me.

I will quite happily walk in to a QP with takeaway coffee cup in hand. It has never been commented on. If it was I would reply that the QP machine coffee is rubbish and doesn't offer soy. I have noticed recently that the MEL QP barista hours have been extended to noon, so well done to QF for that.

If I choose to buy food elsewhere, I tend to eat it at the place of purchase and not take it back to the lounge, but that is just me and I don't mind others doing it.

Why, because iCan.

Guess you learn something new everyday.
I thought that AA had decent offerings in DOM F. I've never done AA Dom F, so l can't comment.

Hmm, some interesting observations here, seems I am the odd one out. To all respondents then :
If a restaurant didn't have what you wanted is it OK to send out for a pizza (or whatever it is you crave)?
Is it acceptable to BYO food to another food establishment ?
Is it OK to eat Maccas at Subway's seats ?

Just asking ... of course the QP isn't a restaurant but is it a food establishment ?

If a restaurant didn't have what you wanted you'd get up and leave!! Why would you order a pizza or something else?

Can you BYO food into another establishment? Sure can. If you are with a couple of mates wanting Maccas and you have sushi, you can all go to Maccas and sit together. No harm in that.

Can you just walk into Subway and eat your Maccas because the Maccas next door is full and no where to sit? No.

As has been said, the lounge is a waiting place with additional services such as refreshments and showers/WCs. There is no restriction in the terms and conditions about bringing in food (as opposed to reasonable dress standards and the like which are in the terms and conditions). There may be a restriction however if the food you bring in causes offence. That would come under the terms and conditions covering reasonable behaviour.

I'm sure some of the krispy Kreme holders from syd are people from WA, where we do not yet have any stores. I'll buy a few dozen for friends and family as I love them.

It does, IMO. Even between main meal times when there is a snack being served, that is usually alright - comparable to the offerings in QF Dom J..
The warm cookie following the meal is always a nice touch.

I'm pretty sure they'd stop you bringing in something like durians (that would cause offence to other pax). Otherwise I don't see the issue. I've done it several times before because the food in the J lounge or the QP used to be non-existent and the HJ in BNE is directly outside the QP....

Yes
My father flew MEL-PER with 2 boxes last night in J.

In a similar vain, when in Mel, I often grab some food in the QP to enjoy in the J lounge. The QP has better cookies.

I agree. The food in the J lounge can be so-so for eating and fill a void, but more often than not when I was only QP, I would get something and take it in. There's only so many times you can eat ham/cheese/salami for dinner.

I do however object to taking fast food on planes. The smell is so strong and pretty offputting for a lot of people on the flight (I've worked at places where it's fine to have a sandwich at your desk, but if your food smells, it's off to the lunch room for you!).
