Call Centre: "Your SC do not get wiped out for the year (2020)" [incorrect]

I feel for people that were within a few SC of attaining a higher tier but its complicated for QANTAS. If they gave all those the benefit of the doubt and grant them the status bump, wouldn't they equally be entitled to drop the status of those punters with an Apr-Jul anniversary that were nowhere near retaining their status? it's unfair to expect QF to do one without the other. I think essentially pressing the pause button and letting people have another crack next year is the fairest outcome for all.
I think it’s fair depending on which side of the ledger you’re on. Everyone get’s another year of whatever they already have. But not everyone had to fly the same amount to get that status.

I can imagine someone who earned 50 of the 600 SCs to retain gold and getting an extra year imagines it as fair.

Whereas the person who earned 690 of the 700 to earn gold thinks its unfair. 😜

Is that right, I thought you get a 6 mth extension. Then if QF have some flights, in the next 6 mths you need to earn status.
Frankly, I didn't think the QF communication was well written. I'm used to getting NOTHING from QF and I can't believe they will be fair and equitable. The only thing I have clearly heard from QF was the attacks by A Joyce on Virgin, he won't be happy until he has a monopoly!

In my case I had already requalified for WP with my year ending 30 April. So I didn't benefit at all from the early call to extend all members by a year in march.

My main intl travel occurs in the months May-July, so I won't come close to requalifying come 30 April 2021.

Why did people who had 0 status credits in march get a free year? But others shafted?

There’s many sides.....equally someone with zero SC less than a month before membership expiry could still book a last minute status run.

To be honest, I have no idea how you could have interpreted the Qantas communication as a 6 month extension.

Same here.
The bulk of my travel, for the past 7 or so years, has been in Sep-Dec. My qualifying year ends in July.
I had already earned WP for July 2020-June 2021 with my travel last Oct-Dec.
When QF "extended" everyone, they gave me what I already had.

Have to say I am one of the lucky ones. Had only 50 SC and got another year of platinum. Had heaps of bookings for the coming six months, which won't materialize. Getting all my vouchers, by seriously I wouldn't think of using them in this status year - they may as well stay on hold for the next status year.

I certainly do being a 690 unlucky sod, particularly as I had flights already sorted in March/April to finish it off which didn't go ahead and then 2 days into May I get these low spend WOW offers that can earn 50SC. I've already earnt 30 this month!!

At least I qualified for Points Club Plus by 30 April which gives Lounge access (probably the main benefit of Gold). Not sure how much value I will get with that over the next 12 months.

As Points Club Plus you should at least get 100 SCs to rollover?

Credits wiped to a big fat 0.
Yep, I’m a member of Mayday club 0 too

I had well and truly requalified when I climbed out of my last flight on 16 Mar. On 24 Mar I was given the “complementary” extension, which was just disingenuous. A bonus for some, good for them, but a lot of posters in a similar category to me. QF saying you got something marvellous and complementary when in reality you got nothing is particularly irritating.

The Virgin SC drip feed was fair. The QF smoke and mirrors wasn’t. It was just humbug.

cheers skip

Yes, I did have 100 SC rolled over.

Have they posted or do they remain “aspirational”.

No, I should have been clearer. I haven't rolled them to QFF yet. They remain as a $30 credit in WOW as I might just take the cash rather than add to my extremely large QFF balance and get some SC which are unlikely to benefit me.

I have another 10 flights between now and when my SC expire on Sep 30 and I get 10 SC/flight. My current balance is 520 and I will get the 50SC bonus between now and then too, so I'm going to be sitting on 670 SC when they wipe the slate clean.

What is the cheapest way of getting the extra 30 SC I need from Perth to get to Gold?

I had thought Qantas were going to introduce a land-based spending way of earning SC because that's what they said they were going to do, but then unsurprisingly reneged on that when the scheme was finally unvelied to reveal SC were not included. So given that's out as an option, what's the next quickest/easiest/cheapest way of getting the extra 30 SC I will need?

Land-based options QF has are:

BP - 10 SCs per 1,000 litres (500ltr of ultimate).

Woolies - 10 SCs per 2,000 WW Rewards points converted to QF points.

Qantas Premier Platinum Card - 75 SCs

Shame I don't own a farm or a trucking company otherwise that might be an option.

Doing this one already but as the only place I regularly gain WW points is via Caltex servos it is effectively the same as the first one.

Qantas Premier Platinum Card - 75 SCs
$300 for 30SC is the cost of that. $10/SC sounds quite expensive. Would have definitely been the go if they had a first year moratorium on the annual fee. I'd have taken the hit on the credit score to get the points then cancel the card after.

The SC/Status Fairy Giveth and the SC/Status Fairy Taketh!

My Velocity 'Review' date is mid May and Halloween Zero sees off my QFF annual accumulation.

I had requalified (back in Feb) for Velocity WP, I was half way to QFF WP before the balloon dropped.

So, QF status to requalify is from Nov 1 so that worked out OK for me; VA is from June - at least I'll get another 70 SC's which may or may not be useful.

The way to achieve this is get the bonus offers and shop at Woolies. If you aren't getting offers, create a new account, delink your existing with QFF and link your new one and spend a little and hope some offers come through.

One of my accounts (the one that links to my stranded 690 QFF account) has already qualified for 30SC (yet to be transferred as too late as mentioned) and another account has had 12k of offers (week 1; 2k for $30, week 2; 4k for $50) and has now just received that same offer again effectively qualifying it for 60 SC, however that is capped at $50.

You have until end of June to do this, so try to bait the WOW rewards somehow to give you easy targets.

One other option is to just take a few Status Credit runs when rules relax a little and if you are Points Club and have a stash of points you could use your QFF points rather than splashing out Spundoolies.

Where do you get this from? I'm logged in to my WW account now and it says nothing about getting SC. It just says 2000WW = 1000QF

I have 1926 WW points right now, so if you're right about the 10SC thing, then I will probably get to 680SC before they wipe them all just to add to the pain of disappointment.

This thread has details:

We don’t yet know if it is a targeted offer but most believe it to be universal.

Through a quirk of Leap Year generosity, I was extended for WP WHICH I had achieved by stumping up the flights,

The extension was the most generous available to Feb 2022.... SC reset to zero on 29 Feb 2020.

I would hope WF will reconsider once flying resumes to ensure people are afforded similar generosity....
