Call Centre: "Your SC do not get wiped out for the year (2020)" [incorrect]

Through a quirk of Leap Year generosity, I was extended for WP WHICH I had achieved by stumping up the flights,

The extension was the most generous available to Feb 2022.... SC reset to zero on 29 Feb 2020.

I would hope WF will reconsider once flying resumes to ensure people are afforded similar generosity....
Wow seriously?

Your renewal date says 2022?

QF IT error in your favour. Pass GO and collect $200:p

For folk on a February membership year, their extension goes from Feb 2021 - Feb 2022
Hurrah ... a "QF IT enhancement" that actually works for its customers ... shame I'm not one of them!

Enjoy.

I believe Qantas has done a good job despite the fact that I have actually lost status by their actions. This sounds very small minded but I really wanted to be Platinum for one year. With the bookings I had I would have reached that tier last week. I had already reached gold for the year so the extension didn’t work for me either.

Disappointing...yes. However they had to do what was best for the majority at very short notice and I think they did that.

Whereas if your renewal date is 31 January, you miss by that much, as Maxwell used to say. 1 February , a day later. and you've got the lot.

In my case I had already requalified for WP with my year ending 30 April. So I didn't benefit at all from the early call to extend all members by a year in march.

My main intl travel occurs in the months May-July, so I won't come close to requalifying come 30 April 2021.

Why did people who had 0 status credits in march get a free year? But others shafted?
THe same situation with me - I already had the SCs for WP before the crisis- my membership clicks over end June .
I still got the status extension but I don't need it .

I've dropped to Bronze for a few years after being in a role that didn't require me to fly. Started new job in November and between then and March accrued approx 1000 SC's, however not flown QFF this status year which ends 30 June because I was on international routes that QFF doesn't fly as carrier. A lot of domestic travel on Qantas was planned for March, April, May but had to be cancelled, and very unlikely to fly before end of June now. Qantas are being ridiculous and losing a customer here if they don't consider that I was well on way to Platinum, and am now stuck on Bronze. Any recommendations?

Welcome to AFF.

So I take it your 1000 SCs were not on QF codeshares and you didn't earn the 4 QF ~ to attain status?

that's really unfortunate as you would have been Gold at least until June 2021.

However I understand you planned plenty of domestic travel which would have taken care of that.

Here's the thing were any of those planned trips ever ticketed with PNR's? If so you could potentially have a conversation with QF about granting your earned Gold status. I am not sure they would stretch to Plat, but you never know.

If you have no proof and they would see what you earned I imagine it could be rather difficult for them to grant you status.

My next thought is that what are your real options for all this domestic (I presume business) travel you will likely take later in the year assuming things come back on line? VA may not return as it was so QF may wellbe the only option, unless your employer decides on BFOD in which case choice is out the window anyway.

If Virgin Australia goes into liquidation, who will you fly instead, domestically at least?

My advice would be to book some domestic flights as soon as you can to get your 4 flights up and then you'll be fine, but I think (especially given the current climate) you would be unlikely to find any airline that would award you status considering you hadn't even flown them. To then say to them you wont be their customer anymore, I think they probably wouldn't care too much. People probably say that all the time.

It sucks when you have something all planned out and then mayhem ensues so you can't complete the journey, or even start it as the case may be. There are many in this situation because of COVID-19.

I’m still missing a load of Ansett points
So am I, but I’m not expecting to find them any time soon;)

+1 welcome!
Which carriers? I can imagine many airlines are keen for new future customers and might offer you status if you showed them your recent significant travel history flying with them, which your activity statement will attest to.

cheers skip

Your renewal date says 2022

Possibly dumb question, but can someone please tell me where in my QFF account it says the renewal date?

All I can see is a generic banner message that I have 'requalified' for platinum, which I assume means I now have WP until 31 December 2021 but there is no new expiry date that I can see. I am using safari if that makes any difference.

Check the QF card in the app, that will have an updated expiry.

I think the renewal date on the website (still in See Activity) is still inaccurate for me, it doesn't take into account the status extension and the banner acknowledges this.

@blackcat20 is spot on, I've checked my app and the expiry there is correct.

When I log into my account in Safari, the 'My account' page on the left has a box about the SCs I've accrued, a 'See Activity' link and an 'Earn status' link. Below that is my points tally, recent points activity and 'See Activity Statement.'

Sorry for going OT mods

Unfortunately, unless one has received the new physical card, seeing it via the QFF app is the only way as it has an option to view your membership card/barcode and there it shows the expiry. This is not on the website at all, and the info there can be misleading specially if one's anniversary date has not been passed.

At any rate those who had earned status with membership anniversaries end of Jan and end of Feb this year did indeed get pushed up to 2022, because normally at rollover at Jan/Feb this year they would have gone to 2021. In other words those folks really did the best out of the extension. Marchies.. well that has been discussed elsewhere a lot.
