BA are selling 250 return tickets Sydney to London for a $644 discount being England's highest innings score for the Sydney test.

We’re offering 250 sale seats for return Economy travel on British Airways from Sydney to London, for departures 1 February to 31 March 2011 and 1 May to 31 May 2011.

JSA Anniversary, Flights from AUD1975

The advertised airfare of $1975 includes all taxes, fees and charges and is correct as at 16 December 2010.
So the air fares should be ~$1331 all up.

These tickets go on Sale at NOON today, Saturday 8th January.

Either the BA fares have not been loaded yet or the 250 seats have been snapped up.:-|

On the BA website, they mention midday (AEST) - so they may not be loaded for another 22 mins.

The discounted fares did become available a short time after midday AEST, and are, surprisingly, still available. I would have though 250 seats would have been snapped-up by now.

It seems that the $644 discount doesn't come off until one actually selects flights. When one searches with flexible dates, the prices shown on the calendar are the pre-discounted rates. However, the rate after selecting flights is the discounted rate.

$1322.34 for SYD-LHR-SYD in February is amazing value. It is very tempting, but I must resist.

(It also looks like both flights must be on BA metal to qualify for the discount.)

I just searched and yep, get that great price too. Is very tempting for me as well but I don't think my new job would like it.

Oh well; I had do some other stuff and they are probably gone by now (or any that I could use).

There does seem to be availability still ... I can't go, but hope others here are able to use the discount.

Discounted fares are still available, sample date 12/2 - 19/2. Strangely, the booking engine shows $728 each way ... then at the confirmation page, reprices to $1,322.xx

Similarly, for sample dates 12/5 - 19/5 showing $804 each way, only to reprice $1,474

Here's some of the important info provided on BA's website:

The discount applies to departures between 1 February – 31 March, and 1 May – 31 May 2011 only.

British Airways will offer a minimum of 250 seats at the discounted airfare.

The 'cheapest' fares are higher in May (shoulder pricing?);the discount is fixed, so the promotion fare is higher.
