I talked with one of the FAs in 1st on my LAX-MEL flight, which arrived home this morning. The FA confirmed the issue was PJs, and that the pax is a frequent flyer in F on QF and apparently is always difficult to please (complains a lot, just about every flight). The FA has dealt with the pax in the past.
Sounds like a very unhappy person to be constantly dissatisfied with F.

Well we have 5 sets of PJs from our two flights on SQ in Suites.
The extra set got handed to me as a gift so maybe SQ are aware of the 19 pages of AFF entries,FT discussion and the newspaper reports. 3 are XL so there is no world shortage of PJs.

I don't wear PJs. Not to bragg, but I certainly wouldn't be wearing XL ...anything. Blech ...I feel sorry for the other pax who would have had to see these people plodding around.

One thing I don't get is where do you get get changed in F? Surely not the toilet?

Yes, you get changed in the toilet.
Or in your seat if you're feeling adventurous :p

To somewhat morph a phrase, it sounds like a case of "Psychologist, analyse thyself". :)

These are comments from someone who was not involved in the actual incident. I know personally one of the QF staff members who was involved, and they indicated that the pax was not rude or obnoxious, spoke to them calmly and politely, and was fine to deal with.

How does anyone here know what the pax was wearing? Perhaps they had just been somewhere in a suit, and intended to wear pajamas for the flight and change back into the suit on arrival. They may not have had anything else comfortable to wear in their carry on. Even jeans to me are totally uncomfortable to wear to sleep in (unless one has had significant amounts to drink and is passing out rather than falling asleep!) Anyway, without further information I don't think anyone can comment much more on the reason for deboarding - only the pax could really clarify things further, everything else is just speculation.

As far as not taking J pajamas, maybe that was unreasonable. However, having worn both F and J pajamas on flights in the last 2 weeks, the F ones are definitely bigger and more comfortable, and a nicer fabric (whether or not you like the colour). The J L/XL ones whilst long enough, and for me wide enough (I'm not skinny but not massive either), for some would not be, but the F ones may still be ok as they are bigger. Put it this way, I wouldn't want the J ones to be any smaller, and I'm no way near the size of the pax in question (purely judging by the photo), but I think I could easily drop down a size in the F ones.

Personally, I'm going to take a pair of shorts and light t-shirt to sleep in from now on anyway. The sheepskin mattress in F is far too hot - especially with the quilt/doona (depending on which side of the street you grew up). Even in J two days ago sitting in the upper deck exit row coming back from Dallas I was roasting in the J pj's with just the thin blanket, and ended up kicking the blanket off.

I have known some people like this for many years (fellow F travellers on QF) and they are the kind of people who don't take no for an answer. The only way to deal with this type of person is (sadly) to give them what they want and don't let it be seen that it bothers you. My mother, is large in her older age and when I take her on holiday I always tell the F Host when they call 24 hours prior that I need a pair of XL pyjamas and then they ensure that for my return they are onboard as well.

It's amazing how many QF FAs there are out there.I spoke to one today who retired early this year but who usually was in the F cabin and usually SYD-LAX.Said he knew the passenger and said he was never rude, obnoxious etc but was always very hard to please. No comment on the recent incident though.

Thats kinda sad! However, now we know why the good guys & girls (us) get on board & have such a good time & receive A grade service from the crew:D

But you would fly if they were only J?

I would have confirmed 24 hours in advance that they have my size (Large). Then, in the event that they didn't yes I would fly without them. If I sampled say 20 of my F flights in the past 2 years I would have had everything on all 20 of them. It isn't ever really a problem.

But this apparently was a late upgrade-no chance to order. At least according to the FA i spoke with and reported by others here as well.

Customer holding a company accountable for what they say will be provided? How dare they!!

BTW: I don't buy the 'this was a last minute upgrade' story - sounds too convenient...

And if all these FA's knew him as well as they say (again, I call BS) - someone would have made sure everything was available. You would need to fly a lot for a FA to recognise you as a regular, in which case you're very important to the airline and should be looked after properly.

Multiple FAs recognising...
