Can you believe this [No XL PJs in F]

I am examining the trouser section of each at the moment (whilst they are not being worn by anybody I hasten to add ).

There is a label on each which is identical. Qantas logo at top, 100% cotton, usual warnings (do not dry clean etc.), then Buzz Products, Creative Product Agency

For my money the only difference is the colour (and I prefer the grey business ones anyway :))

I am 100% with you. The brown is simply awful, flatters no-one and it annoys me that M/L is the smallest ( huge) size. I probably wouldn't have wanted to stick out like a sore thumb wearing the J PJ's in the F cabin if I were the couple in question. But offloading myself ?? No way.

The good doctor goes up in my estimation the more I hear! :p

Are the PJ's in F (QF) significantly better than those in J ?

I know that Mrs GPH has seen the CX ( shanghai Tang) version and wants a pair come hell or high water.

I have a pair of Shanghai Tang PJs and agree they are much better than the QF PJs. And no I'm not selling them. ;)

Looks like Communist Prison Attire.. BYO is the best alternate :D

This whole episode without a doubt would have to be the silliest thing I've ever heard in all my adult working life. Even if there was more to it & it was "the straw that broke the camels back" it's still unfair to every other passenger on that flight to take the course of action they did when it could've been rectified once they'd got back home.

Since they are from MEL I'm assuming that this was their return flight & if indeed that was the case, did they not still have the pyjamas with them they got on their outbound trip & what was the situation there? Did they get F pj's in XL on the way over?

I know people are saying First Class passengers didn't get what they paid for but the fact is they did get what they'd paid for but the PJ's didn't fit!

Most rational people would accept the PJ's as is & give them to their kids, grandkids or whomever. You have to draw the line somewhere with the sizes you stock. Are we going to see people refusing to travel next time because QF didn't stock XXL, 3XL, 4XL etc???

News articles quoted First Class fares of $10,000.00 one way which some here seem to take as gospel as what was paid by the passengers. It's a bit like whenever the ship QE2 comes to town, the media always love quoting how much the most expensive suite or stateroom is for the entire round world voyage.

You only have to look at the wide cross section of people on this forum and the many members who have travelled in F on more than one occasion without paying the full fare but used Classic Award fares in F, FASA's, JASA's plus points upgrades or 2 for 1 J fares plus points upgrades or even operational upgrades.

Quite often it's the passengers who pay the least who demand/complain the most.

1 other point which hasn't been discussed much either is; if there was a delay upon landing, what if people miss connections.
Sure, QF made up for it in the air this time, but what about other times? Who picks up the tab then?
Or, missing a SYD-LAX-xx_ connection and having to wait, say, 4 hours for the next flight because someone didn't want J PJ's.

Valid comment.. I have seen this situation replicated so many times.. paying 2 star prices, expecting 5 star or even more.. service & products to fulfil their dreams & desires.

Yet to see anyone look good in the grey.....however, have seen quite a few nice ones wearing the brown:!:

Is this thread still going? Is it legal to flog dead horses?

If it wasn´t forums would not exist.

This whole episode without a doubt would have to be the silliest thing ......

With ozbeachbabe´s excellent summary post I admit defeat.

I tried valiantly to give the pax the benefit of doubt, and to add some balance to a thread that was just going to be a ¨bash the rich people¨ lynch-a-thon. But it has got too hard. I don´t mind copping flak for expressing a different view (in this case just because the ¨other party¨ here, ie the pax, were unable to defend themselves) but it has degenerated into personal attacks on me, which gets boring.

Unfortunately you can make assumptions on the smallest of information, and after the photo of the doctor was posted, I suffered that too. Because he does look like a self-important prat.

But I wont indulge in fattie-bashing - am too old for that.

Cheers.

Hey juddles..

Please don't feel defeated.. I feel that your comments could be valid, if not agreed or accepted by everyone...

We live in a democratic society & this is a public forum & most importantly everyone is entitled to his/her opinion (within guidelines) without prejudice..

I as one, welcome your continued contributions.. It certainly adds to the 'spice & flavour" value, as well as the most contentious debate of this sensational thread..

Cheers,
jl

I rise in support of juddles. And the two pax. We are only getting one side of the story and from a very limited range of sources. Pyjamas may have just been one factor. Or possibly not even involved at all.

The sole source of information seems to have been the pilot's announcement, which can hardly be seen to be professional, aimed more at entertainment than information. Qantas management is probably giving the poor bloke a serve right now for not choosingless inflammatory phrasing.

But even if we accept the story at face value, we've pretty much all been there. Long day with all the stress of finishing up a trip, hassling with the hotel/tour/taxis/security etc. Late in the evening, all you want to do is get some kip on that long boring night flight home. And then the staff tells you that you have to sleep in your clothes.

The comfortable bed is what you've paid for - or spent a tonne of points on.

If it wasn't for AJ, Pyjamas would be the number 1 PR disaster for Qantas after the twitter incident started the ball rolling!

I think the Captain made an error by disclosing that 2 passengers were disembarking because they didn't have PJ's in their size. Can you just imagine the poor guys in PR in QF who have to deal PR disaster after PR disaster.

I don't know if the guy is rich or not, but he is not a medical doctor but rather a psychologist by PhD ie an Academic. If you ever had to deal with some Academics, some can be a pain in the cough.

Personally I don't know if it's his first time in F. If it was your first time in F, would you really care about the fecking PJ's?

If he has a PhD then he is a real and genuine doctor.....so your comment is, I'm afraid, ridiculous.

Stage 2
The Dr visits his lawyer and asks what action should be taken against a company that has brought him into public ridicule over a private matter....
or
Dr demands that QF refund the fare as the product was faulty and he was severely inconvenienced.
Psychologists might just think one or two steps ahead.

I still think they acted incredibly unreasonably though....

Semantics aside - (and no offense to fellow AFF's), but I understand the Pain-in-the-cough-Academic comment.

IMHO - Academics, many of whom take up a significant portion of premium seats on airlines, represent more of the obnoxious DYKWIA crowd than any other profession I'm yet to meet.

And I say that from the qualified opinion of having a few high-ranking academics in my family.

Believe me - there have been times (in some pretty fancy places in the world) where I have cringed at the attitude/demands being placed on silly things (or at least trivial to me).

I've seen many a young employee on the verge of tears due to being on the receiving end of no fault of their own.

Incidentally - they never seem to be flying (or staying) on their own dime either......

I'll stop now - at the risk of not only running off topic, but restarting the top 10 debates in AFF history that are safely dormant.

(oh I forgot about Anytime Access ;)).
