Yes, there are many places in Civic - what sort of thing would be your preference and we can make some suggestions?

I should have replied earlier when the Dumpling House was first mentioned. My experience with them is they are not good for vegos/people like me.

Any other suggestions?

Casual cafe/pub/bistro style would be great. Usually plenty of choices to keep everyone happy! ;)

I am keen to attend though I apologise for being a relative newbie to AFF! I have a humble suggestion for a venue that definitely has vego friendly options - the 'Monster bar and kitchen' in the HotelHotel (yes that is what they named it). Both hotel and restaurant are relatively new and contemporary, and I can confirm that the food is very good though perhaps not always the cheapest. Bar has a very good range as well. It is in the 'NewActon' area which is walking distance from civic. If one felt like staggering a short distance only they could book in to stay at this hotel (hotel)! ps I can only come at 8:30pm due to work meeting :/ cheers

Hotel Hotel

gupayami, it would be good to meet a new member and discuss your travels. Thanks for the suggestion, of the hotel hotel Monster Bar, it's one of the best and most expensive. It may not be the most convenient for people staying in, or already in Civic. We may have a look for something a bit more cafe / bistroy in Civic as it's easier to park There's plenty of places. Stay tuned. And see you at around 2030.

Thanks getmeouttahere! I just noticed your post after my second note. Yes I see your point about the location with regards to Civic. I think Italian & sons might be a bit expensive. Another offbeat suggestion - Smoque in civic for hearty southern USA style nosh! They have a few vego options (though not many)

Smoque

Elk and Pea looks interesting. Via Dolce was suggested by PM which also looks good.

I have just booked my accommodation in Braddon, on Northbourne Ave. So the city is a leisurely stroll or short taxi ride away.

I am looking forward to meeting a few Canberrans. :)

Viadolce, 18:30. Excellent. Like hossein_au, I'm ok with whatever the group decides. Looking forward to catching up with everyone.

Here's a suggestion that I think will appeal to various diets: http://viadolce.com.au/pdf/Via-Dolce-Menu.pdf. Address: 108 Bunda Street, Canberra ACT 2601, with aprking nearby. Let me know what you think. It serves alcohol. Phone:(02) 6248 8660

Shall we say 1830?

I shall be changing my attendance from bronze to gold. Will get in on the 10th and leave on the 11th back down to HBA.
