Have they done away with the cyclone emergency signal that used to be played regularly (I think on the hour)

Have they just figured with wall to wall news coverage it’s no longer required?

After living in FNQ I'm not fond of that. I'm just assuming they will be using it when things are more imminent.

And I used to live in Darwin. Just doesn't feel like a cyclone without it 🤣

I think it must be gone because they used to put the text "do/do not include the emergency signal when reporting this warning" at the end of the BoM cyclone warnings. Probably something to do with the new national framework for emergencies that resulted from the Black Saturday bushfires in Vic.

Getting back to the original topic. I am still ....... waiting for Vietjet to cancel my flight.

No wait, I just checked BNE arrivals. Inbound VJ83 has been 'rescheduled' from arriving Friday 10:30pm to arriving Saturday 1730 with my VJ84 now rescheduled to 1900 depart which will give it a 1am SGN arrival. Apart from the fact the airport is closed it's pretty horrendous.

It's interesting to see how the change info flows through.

BNE arrivals/departures web enquiry seems to be first
My Booking vietjet website - just aware as I'm writing this

Flight aware - not aware yet

Looks like Virgin has a very different recovery strategy than Qantas....... from what I can see Virgin has pulled the selling of new seats on all flights in and out of Brisbane until Thursday 13th......
Thanks for the heads-up, prompted me to book.
I'm in bne atm, syd-chc Friday next week, don't know how long should stay in bne so booked a JQ bne-syd for Tuesday. $73 cheap "just in case" flight.

QF B737s to SYD. VA is ferrying theirs to MCY - which could be a bit short-sighted!
Yes B38M -8IB ferried over there earlier, now looks like the cyclone is inching north each update.
QQ E190 -UYR did ferry TSV-ROK but is now on final back to BNR with a ferry flight code. ROK full?

Reportedly Brisbane Broncos team and staff (who just had a 50-14 win against Roosters in Sydney) are flying out later tonight on a charter SYD- WTB, and then bussing back into BNE.

An E145 under the rego VH-JGS just flew from MEL-SYD and is scheduled to fly SYD-WTB, I guess 145s are curfew exempt or they'll be cutting it very close to curfew?
