Sounds more like everyone working at Hertz BNE doesn't give a damn about their jobs.
SYD Airport isn't much better!
Generally rude apathetic staff who couldn't care less about anything except barking at you and/or trying to talk you into insurance.
1. Went inside to the counter to fix a few things on my rental; wrong credit card per-authorised, wrong FF account and tolls auto-added, even though my booking was made correctly. 6+ staff in there, doing not much really, and a line of cars waiting to exit that were snaked up both sides of the "pick up/drop off area" so about 10+ cars with one person at the exit....
The Manager, it said so on his badge, barked at me and told me that "next time you should do this as you exit, it will be faster and you won't be holding up staff working inside who are dealing with other customers"
At first, I let it go... But since they had given me an 15 month old car, I decided to ask him, how lining up in a long queue of cars, when I needed 3 changes made to my booking and that there are no other customers currently in the office, would be better option. He thought for a minute and then repeated the same thing. I said thanks for the 15 month old Corolla but I'll decide what option is more convenient for me when my booking does not process through your computer correctly. He muttered something and turned his back to me.... I had the changes made and then drove out and waiting in excess of 10 minutes to get out of the car-park. Keeping in mind the queue of cars trying to exit kept coming behind me, and that my 3 changes took at least 4-5 minutes to make, and the re-print, pre-autho another credit card... I was tempted to say that well that took 5 minutes, imagine if I was at the front of the queue of people trying to exit in their cars, but thought better of it.....
2. Another visit - Another old vehicle 12 months old... Previous model..... Pre-auth on the wrong credit card again, and toll auto-added...... Went inside, and a grumpy Irish male served me and asked me no less than 3 times that I should take the insurance from Hertz to cover the wheels on the car in case I scratch them as it's likely my credit card doesn't cover that... After turning him down twice, I informed him that since the car was 12 months old and had 35000km on it, along with many scratches on the wheels, how would they know about any extra scratches on the wheels.. He said they have detailed information about per-existing damage... Of course, the contract mentioned most of the big dints/scratches on the car but nothing on the wheels... So I made him come outside and mark off on the pre-existing condition report all the scratches on the wheels.. After a bit he just marked most of the paperwork and walked off..
Trying to do their job/upselling cough. I am not interested in that, save it for the punters who rent once a year, not someone who spends $40k+ pa with you
Very close to jumping ship to Europcar as their constant new fleet of cars always makes me jealous!
