Cathay have cancelled one of their two daily Frankfurt flight - and we were booked on it!

OK, we'd better start the research to pick the best A350 seats so we can jump on them if necessary. I see the seats are all on the aisle, non against the window.

My flight CX831 still showing in my Qantas bookings. Shown as a 777 but this will probably be replaced with an A-350.

Long way off so I will just keep an eye on the booking at present.

Surely they will keep one 777 a day on the route for F pax?

I booked my Cathay flights with AA, when one was cancelled and moved, Cathay informed AA but not me. I could see the flights in Cathay website (as I was reserving my seats), luckily I noticed the flight change. Online chat with Cathay and told this has been passed on to AA.

Logged into AA couldn't get to my itinerary, only message to contact AA so I did. If I didn't contact them, not sure if AA will contact me and when.
Cathay never informed me it was Qantas who did.

My 5 cents after doing 6 Cathay A350-900 flights in J, most recently this month, I like to go for around row 15/16. I personally find it far enough away from the front galley and toilets to not get the light or noise, and it's close enough to the front to usually get your first choice of meal.

I always have managed to get a window seat, so can't give you further wisdom there.

in business it is a standard reverse herringbone 1-2-1. So all windows or centre aisles.

Agree - mid cabin is a good choice. Avoid, at all costs 11DG, they are essentially aligned with the WCs on each side of the cabin (the door to the WC is right beside your seat) - with significant noise, intrusion from people standing in your seat area, the curtain pushing against the seated passenger, and noise from the galley :(

I sit in a window seat, preferably in the seat closest to the glass, not the window seat closer to the aisle. I think the CXA350-900 seats are all on the aisle side of the window?

I’m hoping so. We just booked on CX830 for the end of the year. The heart was racing when I first read about the JFK cuts. There was a sense of relief when I did a search on the CX website and saw 830 unaffected.

Is there a duty of care form Qantas if Cathay changes and the new times /flights don't suit ?
I am very happy to report that I received a phone call from Customer Care following up on my online claim. Rather than provide overnight accommodation and meals, Qantas has booked me onto a later QF metal flight from Haneda to Sydney and then to Perth. I will still received the status credits for the original flights. It means an extra 5 hours in the lounge at Haneda. Not perfect for me, definitely cheaper for Qantas, but a good resolution for us both and I arrive home in the afternoon instead of late at night.

I’m glad that CX cancelled our flight and changed it to stupid-transit-time a few weeks ago before the virus hit as it made me rethink the booking and cancel and rebook on Qatar when there was a brief sale on. We would have been denied boarding on our cruise had we even just transited through HK.

We cancelled husband's flight on Cathay to London a few weeks ago.
Very glad now . Don't have to fuss about it
We still have points flights in Nov concerned about Cathay failing more so than the virus

What happens with 2 separate PNR reward bookings if CX (or QF) makes a change to one of those bookings? Do they take any notice of the other PNR flights? CX JFK -HKG then 2 days later QF HKG - SYD - CBR.

No. They won't usually take into account separate bookings. Even if they are 'linked' in the system, my understanding is that it requires an agent to actively look for the link... a computer generated schedule change won't pick up that link. You'd need to manage and consequential arrangements yourself.

What do people think about the risk of the US not accepting people who have transited via HKG (i.e. cathay flyers?)
