Cathay Pacific Delays/Cancellations

CX156 (0055 hours Saturday 22 June redeye from BNE up to HKG, A359 B-LRL) took off at 0310 with arrival at 0936 hours suggested, 126 minutes behind schedule.

Tuesday 25 June 2019 sees CX162, the 1015 hours mid morning SYD - HKG not become airborne until 1126. Expected arrival for A333 B-LAQ is 1854, 59 minutes late.

The 1905 hours early evening redeye from HKG down to MEL on Tuesday 25 June has A359 B-LRT and took off at a very late 2155 hours. Arrival on Wednesday 26 is predicted as about 0845, 155 minutes late. This will delay CX134, the scheduled 0730 hours daytime flight until at least 0955 in pushback, meaning HKG arrival at 1730 or later.

CX134 is again delayed for the second time in three days. A359 B-LRN was airborne from MEL on Friday 28 June at 1023 hours with arrival at 1721 hours, 136 late the estimate.

Friday 28 June 2019's CX161, the 2130 hours HKG - SYD took off at 2232, about 40 late with A333 B-HLQ. SYD had fog earlier on Saturday 29 so there's a lot of holding by incoming aircraft. The CX flight is caught up in this so arrival is likely at 1014 hours, 84 late.

CX163, the nicely timed 1105 hours Tuesday 2 July 2019 HKG down to MEL (B773ER B-KPY) did not take off until 1221 hours (after being off blocks at 1159) so arrival has turned into an estimated 2248 hours, 43 late. There isn't an obvious reason for the delay as the aircraft had arrived ex JNB on CX748 at 0727, 17 minutes late.

The aircraft should form CX178, the 2345 hours redeye back to HKG that will be unlikely to depart much before 0005. This late night time is busy for international departures in Melbourne with often one taking off every 10 minutes or so.

The 2130 hours CNS down to SYD, CX161 (A333 B-HLS) took off at 2317 on Thursday 4 July 2019 so on Friday 5, expected arrival is 1011, 81 late.

CX162, the 1015 hours nicely timed flight from SYD - HKG will likely depart at 1125 or after.

UPDATE: CX162 is not pushing back until at least 1155 hours.

Saturday 6th of July sees CX163 HKG-MEL (B777 V-KQO) with a revised arrival at 00 30, 145 min tardy.
This will further delay CX178 MEL-HKG, which has a tentative departure at 1 35.

On Sunday 7 July, CX101 from HKG to SYD diverted to BNE from where takeoff was at 1217 hours. B773ER B-KQL should arrive at 1341 hours. CX100, the return SYD - HKG flight timetabled to depart at 1415 will be delayed until at least 1455 in pushback.

Also today, we see for the 2nd day in a row CX163 HKG-MEL (B777 B-KQO) making it the delays list. This flight has a revised arrival at 22 59, 54 min tardy. This has pushed back departure of the return leg, CX178 MEL-HKG, but only for 30 min, with a suggested departure at 00 15.

CX134, the 0730 hours MEL - HKG has a variable timekeeping record as its turnaround doesn't have much room if the inbound CX135 is delayed.

On Wednesday 10 July, CX134 took off at 0847 so A333 B-HLS should arrive at 1545, 40 minutes late.

Much later on 10 July, CX163 (the nicely timed 1105 hours HKG - MEL airborne at 1150, about 20 late) has B773ER B-KQN and with bad weather in MEL necessitating imposition of a holding pattern near Kerang, arrival should be at around 2257 hours, 52 late. Northbound CX134, the 0730 hours MEL up to HKG took off at 0904. A359 B-LRF should be at its arrival gate at 1614, 69 late.

This is a rare predictions post for flights from HKG... please don't bash me for this. . As it looks significant... please be advised that HKG airport is having a major strike action today (05/08/2019). Therefore please expect delays for HKG departures on CX Australia services as HKG is on 1 runway operations today instead of 2 normally

At the time of writing. . All Australia EX HKG flights are running as normal, but these are subject to change...

Inbound flights MAY arrive late into HKG due to holding for landings
