Cathay Pacific Delays/Cancellations

Quick morning update ... The HKG CX Australia bound flights did manage to depart late last night (13/08/2019)... Expect delays in arriving in Australia this morning... I think these flights will be almost empty.. as HK check in was cancelled... I feel these flights were for transit passengers only

CX161, the Tuesday 13 August 2019 scheduled 2130 hours HKG - SYD redeye (A333 B-HLQ) took off at 2320 so on Wednesday 14, arrival is expected at 1011 hours, 81 late.

Friday 16th August sees CX157 HKG-BNE (A359 B-LRA) with revised arrival at 2 20, 165 min late. This pushes further the departure of CX156 BNE-HKG which is now tentative at 3 40. That's going to be a painful red-eye flight.

Thursday 22 August 2019 has A333 B-LAQ on the 0735 hours SYD - HKG (CX110) taking off at 0840 for projected arrival at 1605 hours, 45 minutes late.

Monday 26 August 2019 finds CX134, the morning 0730 hours MEL to HKG (A359 B-LRD) not taking off until 0905 hours so arrival is 1607, 62 late.

A333 B-LAK on CX161, the 2130 hours redeye on Monday 26 August 2019 from HKG to SYD took off at 2255. Tuesday 27 arrival should be 0948, 58 minutes behind the timetable.

UPDATE: CX162 (1015 hours SYD - HKG) was airborne at 1132 with suggested arrival at 1854 tonight, 54 late.

B773 B-KQN on CX139, the 0910 hours morning HKG down to SYD that took off at 0959 has been adversely affected by the heavy rain around Sydney, with arrival likely at 2120, an hour late. It initially briefly held above Willow Tree and then for a far longer period near Pokolbin.

CX163, the Sunday 1 September 1105 hours nicely timed HKG - MEL departed at 1152 with at gate arrival suggested as 2303 hours late tonight, 58 late.

CX151 from HKG to SYD is arriving 31 late at 2051 mid evening.

There are demonstrations outside the airport, with the thuggish HK police preventing these inside, and the Airport Express train has apparently been suspended.

The 2355 hours redeye, CX101 (also to SYD) is predicted to depart at 0100 hours on Monday 2, 65 late, so SYD arrival will be an estimated 1152, 62 late.

On Monday 2 Sepotember, CX110 (0735 hours SYD - HKG, A333 B-HLS) was in the sky at 0848 so arrival has become a suggested 1608 hours, 48 minutes late.

Southbound CX161, the Sunday 1 2130 hours HKG - SYD took off at 2230 so on Monday 2, expected arrival at gate is 0923, 33 late for B-LBJ, another A333.

In further, CX163 HKG-MEL (B777 B-KQF) is expected at 22 57, 52 min behind. This will create a very tight turnaround for the return service CX178

Wednesday 4 September 2019 has seen CX134 (the 0730 hours MEL - HKG) depart at 0849 and take off at 0902 hours, so arrival is predicted as 1551 this afternoon, 46 minutes late.

CX111, the 1850 hours early evening Thursday 12 September HKG to SYD )A333 B-LAF) took off at a delayed 2111 so on Friday 13, arrival looks to be 0819 hours, 124 minutes tardy. This will delay CX110, the morning 0735 hours back to HKG until a suggested 0935 in its pushback. In turn that will mean some passengers miss connections in HKG.

Interestingly the CX boss claimed bookings to and from Oz and NZ are 'holding up well' (not what QF's CEO has claimed re HKG, he says 'down 10 per cent') but Europe bookings are not.

Friday evening 22 November 2019 had storms and lightning in SYD during teh early evening so there were a huge number of delays. CX138, the 2220 hours SYD up to HKG (B773ER B-KQR) was airborne at 2326, post the 2300 hours curfew.

CX134, Saturday 23 November's 0850 hours MEL - HKG is predicted to depart at 1035 hours. This is due to CX135 being expected to arrive at 0916, 116 minutes late. Aircraft is A359 B-LRG.

With Sydney storms and lightning a feature of the latter part of Monday 25 November 2019, many flights have been diverted or are badly late, and airspace congested. B773ER B-KQC on CX139, the 0840 hours HKG - SYD that punctually took off this moring at 0905 is diverting to CBR, where arrival should be at 2122 hours, compared with usual Sydney arrival at gate of 2050 hours.

Google Flights suggests the flight is proceeding to SYD tonight, arriving 25 minutes after curfew imposition at 2325 hours. This is possible with the readily granted at present dispensation from the Federal Minister for Transport's delegate.

CX138, the 2220 hours SYD - HKG is still showing as operating but software may not have caught up with the diversion of CX139.

CX138 has, unsurprisingly, been cancelled. As at 2245 hours, the aircraft as above from CX139 remained in CBR where it will probably spend the night.

UPDATE: That prediction was incorrect, as CX139 took off from CBR at 2305 hours bound for SYD, even though there are at least 20 aircraft still on approach to SYD post-curfew.

CX138 has once again taken off - from CBR though, off to SYD. I'm quite surprised once again.

As at 1300 hours on Tuesday 26 November, this aircraft (B773ER B-KQC) looked to be still in SYD.

One explanation why it did not operate a 'CX138D' this morning may be that the flight (and cabin) crew may have left their accommodation and/or signed on pretty much as normal last night in Sydney and hence have been 'out of hours' this morning.

UPDATE: CX138D departed SYD at 1323 hours and took off at 1341 for HKG.

CX702 BKK-HKG is going tp be late so I was moved forward to CX712 which departed late and got into HKG AP >1 hour late. No probs because I was op-upped from PE to J.

As we came into land the display said for pax on CX105 HKG-MEL to see ground staff. I went and was advised that because of an aircraft change there are six fewer J seats and they are looking for people to move down to PE. My PE seat was safe.

CX do treat OWEs very well.
