Cathay Pacific Delays/Cancellations

Tuesday 28 January's CX161, the scheduled mid evening 2115 hours HKG down to SYD (A333 B-LAF) took off at 2332 hours so on Wednesday 29, arrival should be at around the 1113 hours mark, 98 minutes late. This aircraft will then form CX162, the 1055 hours back to HKG so if all goes well, it should be off blocks at about 1230 hoursm, and may on a gate-to-gate basis pick up some time, arriving in the trouble-plagued SAR not as tardy.
 
CX105 (A35X B-LXC, the 0005 hours Sunday 2 February HKG to MEL airborne at 0119 hours) should arrive at 1258, 48 minutes behind its schedule.
 
Also on Sunday 2 February 2020, CX139 (B773ER B-KQY), the 0840 hours HKG - SYD that took off at 0913, about 15 late) should be arriving (with a lot of rain around) at 2146 hours, 56 minutes late after having to hold west of Pokolbin.
 
CX110 (Thursday 6 February, the 0850 hours nicely timed SYD - HKG airborne at 1018 hours with A359 B-LRJ) shoudl arrive at about 1556 hours, 31 minutes late. Given CX has and is hugely reducing its flying, a half hour delay could be the least of its problems.
 
On Sunday 9 February, CX134D is operating, having taken off from MEL at 1233 hours with arrival expected at 1814 hours, 189 minutes later than the usual CX134, in HKG. Aircraft is A359 B-LRA that arrived on redeye CX135 in MEL at 1107 this morning, 227 minutes behind schedule. It had been in HKG yesterday since 0454 hours, so not sure why the significant delay.

As with other foreign competitors such as SQ, CX had made huge cuts to its schedules during coronavirus but is now receiving some bailout from the Hong Kong SAR government.

On Thursday 11 June 2020, B-KPT (B773ER) on CX134, the 0730 hours morning MEL =- HKG did not take off until 1422. Consequently, expected arrival is 2107 hours mid evening, 367 minutes tardy.
 
On Wednesday 1 July 2020, CX100, the coronavirus pandemic 1415 hours SYD - HKG has been cancelled. Four others of the remaining 10 international flights today have also got the flick. This is unusual: on many days recently, SYD has been down to about four international departures a day.

CX is a rare visitor to Oz at present (which also applies to major competitor SQ.
 
CX100 again features, this time on Wednesday 19 August 2020 with this 1415 hours afternoon flight from SYD up to HKG taking off at 1517 hours with A350-1000 B-LXA. Arrival late tonight should be at 2220 hours, 45 minutes late.

CX recently announced a big loss for its latest period but is operating to and from Oz more than was the case a few weeks ago, although still only at a fraction of pre-COVID-19 schedules.

One I omitted yesterday - apologies - was that on Monday 18 January 2021, CX111, the 0725 hours scheduled SYD arrival overnight from HKG was cancelled during coronavirus. Sydney has had its weekly cap on international passenger arrivals lowered to (IIRC) 1505 persons per week so this may be why the flight got the flick.
 
Monday 25 January 2021 finds CX138, the late evening 2220 hours SYD - HKG, cancelled. CX100 at 1545 hours remains scheduled.
 
The last scheduled passenger flight ex SYD for the first day of summer (1 December 2021), CX138, the 2220 hours, has been cancelled.

This is a risky schedule as when the inbound operates, it's due in at 2050 so it doesn't have to be very late for the outbound to have to seek a curfew exemption. Of course, the latter are often granted but it's a potential worry for the airline and most especially its passengers.
 
CX100, the Thursday 2 December 2021 1545 hours SYD - HKG has got the flick.

CX139, the inbound due into SYD at 2050 was also cancelled, so the 1200 'high noon' arrival is forming the late evening 2220 hours back to HKG tonight.
 
Although CX101 has long arrived in SYD on Friday 3 December 2021, the sole CX flight back to HKG (the 2220 hours has been cancelled), CX100, the 1545 hours, is predicted to push back at 1930 in the early evening.
 
It looks like CX138 SYD-HKG on 7 Dec has been cancelled (at least that's what they told me and it doesn't seem to be bookable).
Have been offered SYD-MEL-DOH-HEL alternative the following day but due to arrival times this didn't suit and have now booked SYD-HKG-CDG-LHR in its place. All J award bookings (Shame as the first alternative would have earned SCs and would expect a better QR J experience)

Edit: The CDG-LHR didn't stick as CX decided they couldn't change the final destination on an award booking. Back to QR which could be worse but does limit our time in the UK somewhat

It seems fairly common for some airlines like CX to be reducing flights to Australian destinations from a timetabled two per day to just one. It could be due to low passenger numbers.

I don't know how long your waiting time in Paris is for the short flight to London, but Eurostar high speed rail is a far more comfortable and eco-friendly alternative, and delivers you from city centre to city centre.

Would usually consider. It's still awaiting final confirmation but it's only a 2 hour stop (no lounge in CDG though) and we have covid tests and hire car booked at LHR
 
The Boxing Day 2021 CX101 (2355 hours HKG - SYD, B359 B-LQC) took off at 0122 hours on Monday 27 December, so SYD arrival should be 1253, 53 late.
 
With its numerous problems including China being 'closed', Cathay Pacific doesn't seem to have had much of a passenger flights presence in Oz in recent months.

On Friday 22 April 2022, CX104 (1425 hours afternoon flight MEL - HKG) is delayed until 1845.
