Cathay Pacific Delays/Cancellations

With its numerous problems including China being 'closed', Cathay Pacific doesn't seem to have had much of a passenger flights presence in Oz in recent months.

On Friday 22 April 2022, CX104 (1425 hours afternoon flight MEL - HKG) is delayed until 1845.
more likely tech issue than passenger delay, cause as you rightly said, china is 'closed'

It's surprising that with all its troubles (including how China is 'closed') that CX isn't close to bankruptcy.

On Friday 3 June 2022, A35X B-LXI is on the 1455 hours HKG down to PER CX171 that should arrive at 2343, 68 minutes late as it did not take off until 1632 hours.

On Sunday 3 July 2022, CX100 (B773 B-KQP, the 1415 hours SYD - HKG) was airborne at 1509 so predicted at gate arrival is 2205 hours, 35 minutes tardy.

CX is now funded by HK government - linked to CCP - reason is supporting during "Covid"

HKG and mainland communist China are no longer on my visiting list. Thankfully I've been to each multiple times.

I've only done one return trip on CX, MEL - HKG. It won't receive repeat patronage.

I tried CX MEL to HKG pre 2019 and I agree with you that I would not do that again

Aircraft B-KPZ diverted to BNE and arrived SYD yesterday at 22:07 as CX139
It departed SYD as CX138 today at 14:28

very late considering scheduled for yesterday at 21:35

CX has a far lower profile in Oz than it had in 2019.

On Tuesday 20 December 2022, CX178 (A333 B-LAO, the 0100 hours MEL-HKG) took off at 0130 so arrival is estimated as 0726 hours, 31 late.

The reason for low profile now days is because of the reduction of services at this time to HKG from CX - the services are being boosted through as the months go on from here

On Thursday 22 December 2022, a storm just after 1400 AEDT saw much water leaking into various passenger areas at MEL, including near/in the WH Smith outlet and the pub.

I have posted in the QF cancellations thread about how this problem hasn't been fixed in 11 years.

CX104 (A35X B-LXM), the 1520 hours MEL-HKG was not airborne until 1650 so arrival should be at 2229 hours, 64 behind.

thanks for this update, but this is a freak storm of nature :(

One other aspect I omitted is that ground staff had to stop work. No one could work outside in torrential rain (unless you were a duck).

At 1710 AEDT there seems more severe storm activity (red and orange) in some Melbourne suburbs including over the airport.

CX161, the Sunday 1 January 2023 HKG to SYD due out at 2120 hours took off at 2137, on time, with A35X B-LXM. SYD arrival on Monday 2 should be at 1028 hours, 53 late. Adverse winds?

The CX155 from HKG to BNE has A359 B-LRC and is arriving at a suggested 0958 hours, 88 minutes late.

Still on 2 January 2023, CX104 (1520 hours MEL-HKG) did not become airborne until 1726, so A35X B-LXN should arrive at approximately 2256 late tonight local time at its gate, 91 minutes behind the timetable.

This is because of the incoming CX105 didn’t depart HKG until 02:04HKT, arrive into MEL at 14:59 - no chance of meeting the scheduled 15:25 departure to HKG
