Cathay to cut worldwide capacity by 30% [Now 96%]

I am about to cancel my award bookings with CX that were booked using Asia Miles

I have a bad feeling that these Asia Miles will be useless in the near future when CX folds

You can use Asia Miles for Qantas flights. Probably best to rebook it and use the flights soon.

That's true as well. In fact, if your face is yellow not white, the Chinese government would treat you as Chinese. Just look at the Swedish citizen Gui Minhai. I think we are way off topic now.
I agree with these statements too as the chinese government will move goal posts often... as to CX - i think this company will die a very painful death in the medium term

I got a question for you - are u in australia now as we speak... if yes - use it for QF bookings as recommended

AS posted elsewhere: Hong Kong orders mandatory COVID-19 tests for all residents

Flight bans from countries classified as high risk, including Australia, Canada, India, Nepal, Pakistan, the Philippines, Britain and the US, will be extended to April 20.

How does CX survive with another 2 months banned from carrying passengers from such key markets.
Woke up to your post, so sad, because my father's been sleeping in my sofa for 7 weeks now. He needs to go back, I don't know how long I could stand having him in my house. 😥

Chicken - best to keep him in Australia - it is not safe for him to return even if you are pro govt... i see much more dire situation in HKG now (i hate to spread fear, but i think war in the region is extremely likely)

He only flew here to put in visa application, so he still a lot of affairs in Hong Kong to finalise.

I have actually been looking at the schedule with TG which is still flying to Hong Kong, which has a 11 hour stop over in BKK, but this is getting challenging. Maybe he could go to another country for a holiday, then fly back into Hong Kong? Fly into Singapore have a 2 weeks holiday, but SQ is not taking passengers into HKG ......

i understand the need then... but seriously it is going to get worse in future... so if he can do as much as he could in Australia - best to sort it out here before he returns to hkg - thus keep his trip back to HKG as short as possible

Now the motto has change to "Combating the epidemic with staunch national support". Not even trying to hide it anymore.

But...sort of back on topic...there are plenty of people doing washouts in Thailand. Of course the problem will be if Thailand is put on the ban list while you're there.

From what someone tells me, the best source of info for the return journey is the HK Quarantine Group on Facebook - if you have specific questions.

Now that local cases are shooting up, what are people's thoughts on whether the flight bans are removed?

It makes no sense to have the bans, especially if hotel quarantine or PBJ (not peanut butter and jelly, but Penny's Bay Jail) is still in place. Imported cases has been in the single figure on most days.

the chance of flight ban removed is 0 - xitler wants to cut hker chives, stopping hkers from leaving under bno visa, and forcing hkers to submit to the ccp rule!

China's COVID Zero mentality is unchallenged by Hong Kong. Flight bans exactly as now for some time to come. Any potential additionaI cases beyond Zero is too much to add to the domestic cases (that they want to reduce from 50,000 per day back to Zero). I'd hope that Hong Kong and China are open for visitation in 2023 but not confident at all.

i absolutely doubt it will happen at all... i feel china wants to shut their border with the western world tbh... cause the mood has changed in the world view of china now days

Plus means one less thing to worry about if they send their navy across the Taiwan Strait.
