I certainly hope that an AFFer got some benefit over CX 'repurposing' the Lounge Crawl for a marketing campaign!

I dragged my +1 through all CX lounges once. It was nice but the only one truly special is Pier F, otherwise QF lounge is good enough.

My wife and I visited (won't say dragged) all lounges we had access to in HKG a couple of times. She loves it and keeps asking when we're going back.

I wouldn't limit visits to a single lounge as the lounge you don't visit could have the food or desert you want.

I'll be back again June.

It depends how much time you are willing to spend at the airport. I like to arrive 2-2.5 hours prior to departure, starting in the QF lounge having some of their signature dishes, then moving to Pier F for premium alcohol, Asian food and massage. I really don't see any reason to waste time in other lounges, there is a limit to how how much one can eat and drink.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Totally agree. If on a long layover prefer to spend a few hours in Mongkok or Central for some street food fix before relaxing in the lounge.

What justifies a trip out the airport? I have 5 and 6 hour layovers later this month. Is it a straight forward and reliable transit to either of these places, dare I say like the train in SYD.

As straight forward as straight forward can be. In fact even easier than Syd as you don't need to go underground at all. The station is on the same level as arrivals.

Trains leave at least once every 10 mins (more during peak times) and takes you to Central in <30mins

Yes, very quick and straight into town.

Yes don't really need to lounge crawl now that HKG is my home port :)

What i do is head straight for the Pier F to eat the Angus Burger (and maybe a risotto with truffle).

Only go to Wing F when it doesn't make sense to go to the Pier.

And the QF lounge if I am on 3K

What ermen and Hvr said. Train takes 24mins to Central. Partner did a trip to Mongkok on a 4.5hrs transit. Then again, he knew what he wanted and got back in time for dinner in QF lounge.
Big fan of HK street food so I'll do a trip out if my transit is >5hrs. Could still squeeze in a drink or two in the lounge.

Thanks Hvr, erman and mmchow. Looks like I need to start planning a quick visit. Most interested in seeing a museum that covers early days of the GB empire, see the skyline and sample some street food.

A recent example to show how easy it is:

Last week my plane touched down at 15:45 in HKG, by 16:45 I was attending 90 min meeting at ICC tower (adjacent to Kowloon station), 18:45 back at airport, 19:15 entered the QF lounge just on time for shower and quick bite before boarding 20:15 flight to SYD.

Everything was punctual, I love that about HK :)

I guess it depends on transit time or if you are arriving from Hong Kong City.

My first port of call if going through immigration is always the Wing First lounge for the buffet. I have never not being able to find something to eat I love. Prawns, smoked salmon, sometimes fetta cheese and some sort of lamb/beef/pork roast. It really does not get any better than that for me in a lounge. Not more than 15-20 minutes. I love to eat quick and out. Hate waiting.

Then it's off to the Qantas lounge for a Pure Blonde (or 2) and a look at the food. Usually desert is quite nice. No more than 15-20 minutes.

Then it's off to any other lounges depending on the time left and the departure gate.

I will only get to the Pier if my arrival gate in transit is nearby or I have left too much time in transit and I'm bored and need long walk. The food in the Pier doesn't do it for me nor the waiting to be served. That's not my style. To each their own.

All Cathay Club lounges are worth a visit. My favourite, especially for long layovers is the Pier lounge. It has a great relaxation area at one end where one can stretch out and have a nap - perfect.

Just booked a CX J flight this afternoon so I can do one last round of the CX F lounges as a OWE.

I normally start off at the Wing F lounge and then head out to the Pier F lounge prior to departure. Is there any point in visiting the J lounges?

I don't bother visiting the J lounges...I'll do that if eventually I have to revert to LTG...

In my opinion the Wing and Pier business lounges are not that great. Possibly because they are connected to the First lounges.

The Cabin and the Bridge though are OK. I love to sit at the bar in each of these 2 lounges and have a vodka and orange looking at the views of Hong Kong from the Cabin and the gates/taxiway from the Bridge. Very relaxing. Also they are located between the Wing and the Pier and good to break up the walk.
