Yes, it was a bit of a challenge communicating with AFF down for 2 days prior to the dinner!

In the end we had 9 people and an enjoyable evening.

Apologies for missing it - in an extremely ironic turn of events, I had to miss this in order to meet with a friend who required some urgent help... in the CBR Qantas Business lounge. I think it's the first time I've ever gone into the lounge while not flying myself.

Wait, they actually let you into the lounge even though you weren't flying? I got turned away as a guest not that long ago at the same lounge (as I was flying VA).

They let me, along with another friend, into the lounge to go find my friend who was already in there with her husband who wasn't flying. So three non-flyers in total.

The fact that a) my friend is a wheelchair user and her husband was helping her move around the airport, and b) I told the lounge dragon that I needed to see her briefly to witness some legal documents while conspicuously holding a case with "JUSTICE OF THE PEACE" prominently displayed on the side - probably helped.

We were required to scan a QR code and sign in, obviously.

Looking at the QF website it seems that there is a limited entitlement for J flyers or higher level FFs to bring in a non-flyer guest.
