CC churning - equifax scores

Since equifax's revamp, my scores have gone 734, 1010, 974, 777 - no new credit applications or card closures, however i have moved in the last 8 weeks and a utility check landed on the report. I will be closing one card this month with a small limit so will be interesting to see what impact it has on the score.

I also dropped by about 100 in the last month - the only variable was a new CC application and subsequent account.

What’s the policy at Equifax on this? I believe I changed energy providers last year and my score fell quite a bit. I’m planning to change energy providers again and would prefer this didn’t happen again.

No one knows how those algorithms work. We keep each card at the minimum allowable credit limit. Our experience is that the credit score slowly decreases over time compared to where you started (as your credit exposure increases).
Well that's weird. Not sure why that is? What have I missed?
