CEO retiring, what changes at Qantas would you like to see

How do you know when it is or its not a trick? Its most frustrating when it is a trick
I just assume it’s a trick! Seems unfortunately I’m right most of the time, and it is in fact a trick. I think they just generically put that up when a flight is delayed and they don’t want to admit it.

Risk reward payoff for me is - if I’m right that it’s a trick, I get more time in the lounge. If I’m wrong I might be later to board than ideal and have to get my elbows out to get luggage space in the overhead locker. And by that time, I really don’t care if they are asking people to board quickly. It takes as long as it takes.

Yeah - thinking this messaging is perhaps more automated than it should be.
An airport system counting backwards from an assumed unaffected T-0, no doubt.

I've had it happen on multiple of my recent QF flights that the flight was delayed; the staff in the gate lounge know this, and yet still no change to the status. A couple of times it said go to gate and there was still no plane there to operate the flight! I've found the pop-up on my phone from the QF app tells me the flight is ready to board and this has been very accurate; but not sure if always the case, or if it always alerts...

Cheers,
Matt.

I was led to believe it was somehow triggered by the dispatcher/gate agent logging in on the PC at the gate.

Or some aspect of their procedure once logged in.

Though automated does seem the most obvious.

It probably varies by port, and other factors, I guess

QAN down another 1.6% today to the lowest level in 12 months on the back of today's market update highlighting fuel price pressures.

What a return, the latest share buy back worked a treat for the small investors! Has really pushed the share price up, and created a windfall return. 🤣 🤣 :p

And there is another one proposed!

3b) They do but don't care because they don't appreciate the consequences of it. Usually the directors of large companies would have their life management going so that any hickups are fixed *for them* pretty swiftly.

If their custom-made wheelchair would come back in pieces and the company just unempathetically shrugged its shoulders, they got stuck mid-trip on a small freezing airport with no resolution in sight, or tickets cancelled mid-trip, or their baggage with half of their clothes was lost for three months and with no real means to replenish everything at will, the care factor would suddenly jump.

QF really would need a long-standing consumer panel which would have two important things in the Terms of Reference: brutal honesty and direct access to any senior exec (including the CEO and the Chairman) relevant to the experiences coming up in the panel. That would be the strongest way to get the Voice of Customer in.
Watching the US show Undercover Boss really illustrates to those bosses with their heads in an anatomically difficult positoin the nitty gritty about their businesses.I reckon it would be a huge eye opener for the new boss!

How long will VH remain CEO? My best guess is 2-3 years max!

They could have bypassed AJ and let him remain at JQ, and let VH come into the CEO position 15 years ago, she would have had 14 years experience as CFO.
Maybe she would not have done the things AJ thought or felt as appropriate.
Now they say they are going to pump $80m into their call centre ops, she said she would try to bring back the call centers onshore, so, if she now says that QF will spend $80m in "training", does this mean that the call centers will remain offshore.
Ummmm, what the... indeed.
Give her 6/12 months, and see if Mindpearl and the others do loose the contract, serves them right if they do.
We will never know, but those who call the QF/QFF call center. and get the call drop/ie, lose their spot, is it because the overseas CSA pressed the call cancel button?
===
And the name of the owner of the overseas call centers that QF/QFF uses are none to be "openly" found.
Is it Mindpearl, is it Teletech, ...

The $80 million is not just on call centres. It covers:

  1. better contact centre resourcing and training,
  2. an increase in the number seats that can be redeemed with Frequent Flyer points,
  3. more generous recovery support when operational issues arise,
  4. a review of longstanding policies for fairness and
  5. improvements to the quality of inflight catering.
Don't know how the 80 million is sliced and diced between those things.

Surely goyder cannot survive this AGM
Employees are furious that he gets a $100K pay rise meanwhile everyone else at the company had to have a two year pay freeze and agree to no more than 2%

Maybe he can join Alan on his trip to avoid it

Alan Joyce avoids grilling over Qantas’ lobbying of federal government with overseas trip

Ahem, some people must have thought AJ was doing a "great" job tho.
===
And did he think, "I have given it all I got"...
Or did he think, I gave it what I thought was apt.
Off T, DA *Dan Andrews* has also stepped down as premier of Vic, as did the former Premiers of WA and NSW.On T
