Change to pre-departure champagne in First class?

The Yellowglen Perle is still a decent drop. Its no champagne but for most it doesnt make much difference.
we did a blind tasting a couple of weeks ago with a mixture of Australian sparklings and Champagne. The universal favourite among the under 30s was an Arras NV. Just really about what you like.....

In my bit of England in the 70s the grown-ups would drink Asti Spumante, which was a step up from Babycham

Babycham was my drink in the 60s -I thought I was so sophisticated (and around 16 - we didn't seem to worry about drinking ages then? Not that I drank much, but it seemed totally acceptable for your parents to see you drinking at a family party at that age?)

We were in EK F on Sunday 8th and was served Moet as pre take off (same as lounge) prior to the Dom 2006 in the air. Was nice for the first 3 glasses...

Yes, I had this happen once too and was bemused. Now I ask what they're using for PDP. Ever since that one time it's been the Dom. I have a funny feeling the Moet was ex-MEL but I could be wrong.

Arras is making some seriously good wine. They regularly do well at international shows and are ranked amongst the world's best. Some of their vintage cuvee's are spectacular

First they came for our champagne and we did nothing. Then they came for our tiny tubes of toothpaste and still we did nothing. Then they came for our eyeshades and we were actually fine with them going because they are rubbish anyway. Sic semper tyrannis!

Yes I had heard they were making a name for themselves, which is why I put in one of their sparklings to try. It certainly was popular with the younger group.

I was a bit worried in QF10 F on Wednesday when I wasn't offered any champagne. When I asked, it was the Pol Roger Sir Winston Churchill 2004.

I guess I should be thankful that I can't tell the difference between Krug and Yellowglen?
Definitely a good thing. I still don't understand the obsession.

I have been experimenting with trying to detect a difference between Belvedere and Grey Goose and I'll be stuffed if there's any difference. One day I order Grey Goose, the next day I order Belvedere and I'm sure they are no different to Smirnoff or Absolut but makes me feel better as they are more expensive and I don't pay for the privilege of sampling them each week.

This week I might try to detect a difference between Hendrick's and Tanqueray.

I'd be astonished if you can't JohnK

Vodka (which has no real flavour unless it has been flavoured with something) and gin (which is always flavoured with a mixture of botanicals) are two totally different things.

Gin is basically vodka with flavouring :)

The differences between most vodkas are largely a matter of marketing. The differences between most gins are pretty obvious.

Different gins are made with different aromatics. Those two are quite different and its pretty easy to tell them apart.
